The object of improve and licaerial adapt it more especially for felling piped edgesof seams. The presser foot has in the past usually been a single rigidly supported member against which the work is pressed by a yielding work support. In the. new machine the presser foot is divided, the main part at the left of the ridge forming rib above the work support being fixed, while he rightof the ridge forming rib is mounted upon a spring su ported arm to yield'laterally away from the line of stitching under the strain of an exvy cross seams.
