E. DIXON ADJUSTING MEANS FOR WEIGHT LEVERS Filed Decl 16, 1925 gwuentoz Patented June 29, 1926.
PATENT OFFICE.
EZRA DIXON, OF BRISTOL, RHODE ISLAND.
ADJUSTING MEANS FOR WEIGHT LEVEItS.
Application filed December 16, 1925. Serial No. 75,772.
provide means which can be easily and.
quickly adjusted and without removal or disengagement of the lever therefrom and which also permits more accurate and finer adjustment of the screw to give the eXact tension desired on the top saddle.
In the drawings Figure 1 is an end elevation of a roll stand to which the present invention is applied;
Figure 2 is a detail side elevation of the lever,
Figure 3 is a top edge view of Fig. 2 and Figure 4 is an enlarged section on line 44 of Fig. 1.
In proceeding in accordance with the present invention the top roll saddle designated 1 has the usual depending link 2 that is engaged by the lever 3 having the weight a connected thereto at the outer end of the lever. The inner end of the lever is provided with a pair of spaced fingers 5 which have substantially horizontal upper edges 6 providing upwardly facing seats for the under side of a ball 7. The ball 7 is carried on the upper end of the shank S which is received between the fingers 5, the shank being formed integral with a screw 9 threaded into the frame 10 of the textile mahine.
The screw 11 is preferably formed with a transverse opening 11 to receive a pin or the like whereby to effect turning of the screw in adjustment thereof.
The ball or head 7 it will be noted may be turned on the seats 6 both clockwise or counter-clockwise or completely rotated and thus enables desired adjustment of the screw without necessitating removal of the lever in effecting such adjustments. The fingers 5, moreover afford wide portions which engage opposite sides of the screw shank 8 and thus assure the lever maintaining its normal operating position.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:-
A weight lever adjustment for spinning machines including in combination with a lever having a pair of spaced and relatively wide fingers extending outwardly and downwardly from the inner end thereof, an integral adjusting device composed of an elongated screw having a reduced shank and a ball on the outer end of the shank, the shank being freely turnable in the space between the fingers and the ball being engaged with the upper edges of the fingers and with said inner end of the lever, said screw being formed intermediate its ends with a transverse opening located above the part of the machine frame on which the screw is mounted, whereby to enable a pin to be inserted in the opening and the device turned as a unit to effect adjustment of the lever while the latter retains its normal relation to the device.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
EZRA DIXON.
