HOLDER.
Application filed November 6,1924. Serial No. 748,156.
The object of the present invention resides in the provision of a holder for a lipstick or rouge, with means for forcing the contents of the holder towards the discharge end thereof, so that said contents can be easily and conveniently used in an economical manner.
The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the following detailed description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, the invention residing in the construction, combination and arrangement. of parts as claimed.
In the drawing forming part of this application, like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views, and where 1n:
Figure 1 is a view in elevation.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Figure 1.
The holder forming the subject matter of the present invention comprises a body portion 12 which is of uniforni diameter throughout its length, the lower end being formed with outwardly extending annular flange 11 upon which reposes the inwardly directed flange 12 of a cap 13. As shown in Figure 2, this cap is suspended from the lower end of the body portion 10 and rotata'bly mounted thereon, the outer surface of the cap being knurled or roughened as at 14 to facilitate turning of the cap as the occasion may require. Supported by the cap-13 and arranged centrally within the body portion 10 is a threaded element 15 upon which is mounted a follower 16, the latter being formed with a rib 17 which slides in a groove 18, to prevent the follower from turning within the body portion 10 when the threaded element 14 is rotated. The upper end of the body portion 10 is interiorly threaded to accommodate a cap 19 which is preferably of the configuration shown in Figure 2. and provided with a restricted outlet opening 20 through which the contents of the holder is forced. The upper end of the body portion 10 is also exteriorly threaded to accommodate a removable cover 21 which surrounds the cap 19 to prevent dirt or other foreign matter from entering the holder, and a so protecting the contents thereof from air. The rouge or lipstick is arranged within the holder 10 around the threaded element 14 as shown in Figure 2 and indicated at 22. The invention provides a means for carrying lipstick or rouge, so that it can be easily and conveniently used without Waste. Inasmuch as it is only necessary to rotate the cap 12 in order to force the follower 16 through the body portion 10, thereby moving the contents in the direction of the cap 19, and through the opening 20 for application.
While it is believed that from the foregoing description, the nature and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent, we desire to have it understood that we do not limit ourselves to what is herein shown and described, and that such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scope of what is claimed.
Having thus described the invention, we claim:
A holder of the character described com prising a tubular body portion open at both ends and adapted to receive a lip stick, a substantially conical-shaped cap fitted over the upper end of said stick and secured to the adjacent end of said body portion, and having a restricted centrally disposed opening, a removable cap associated with the same end of the body portion and adapted to onclose the first mentioned cap, an outwardly extending annular flange on the lower end of said body portion, a cap closing said end, an inwardly directed flange on said cap engaging the flange on the lower'cnd ot' the body portion whereby to support the cap for rotationwith respect to said body portion, athreaded eleinentcarried by the last mentioned cap and passedthrough said lip stick, a follower, threaded on said element and upon which said stick reposes, and adapted to move the latter longitudinally of said body portion upon rotation of the last mentioned cap. said body portion having a depression, and a projection carried by the follower and received by said depression to hold the follower against rotation.
In testimony whereof we affix our signatures.
