This invention relates to a paper cone perforating device ofthe class set forth in a pending application, Serial 51,070, filed November 20, 1924, in which a hollow paper or equivalent cone is used as the supporting medium for a bobbin of yarn or other thread `to facilitate the coloring of portions of the yarn and mass by drawing the coloring matter through the porous mass of yarn by means of av suction .device inserted into or connected to the perforated' core in a manner somewhat similar to that shown in apendl ing application, Serial No. 751,069, .iled

It will be evident,however, that the same device maybe used forr perforating other objects without .departing from the spirit of theinvention.
The main object is to provide a simple andl eicient means for expeditiouslyperforating hollow fibrous objects such as paper cones either before o-r after yarn has been wound thereon and preparatory to coloring i portions ofthe yarn en masse without removing'it from the cone.
Another object is to provide simple and efficient means whereby the operation ofthe punching elements may be controlled by fiuid pressure from any available source, not shown. n
Other objects and uses relating to specific parts of the device and its controlling means will be brought out inthe following description. v

A device for perforating the hollow conical cores of yarn bobbins comprising va head tapered to correspond to the taper of the core and provided with radial openings extending through the periphery thereof, levers pivoted to said head and provided with punches movable in said openings for perforating the core on the head and means reciprocally movable within the head for operating said levers.

A device for perforating` the paper conical coresof yarn bobbns comprising a head tapered to correspond to the taper of the core for receiving and supporting said core,y separate sets of punches arranged at different points along the axis ol the head and movable through openings in the periphery of said head, and means reciprocally movable ywithin the headfor operating the punches of both sets simultaneously. f
4. A device for perforatingy cones comprising a tapered support for the cone having radial slots extending through the tapered peripheral surface, and punches regis tering with said slots and movable radially for perforating the cone thereon.
5. A device for perforating hollow paper cones comprisingy asupporting head tapered to conform to the interior taper of the cone and provided'ivith a radial opening, a bell crank lever mounted on the head and having one arm provided with a punch registering with said opening' and movable radially for perforating; the paper cone on the head, and reciprocally movable means coaxial with the head for operating said lever.
