FOLDING UMBRELLA.

The invention has relation toan umbrella, parasol or analogous article for affording protection against the rays of the sun and rain, and has for its primary object the provision of an article of this nature which may be reduced to compact form for convenience of transportation, or which may be used as a cane, as required.
Other objects and advantages will be apparent and suggest themselves as the nature of the invention is understood.
While the drawings illustrate an embodiment of the invention it is to be understood that in adapting the same to meet diiferent conditions and requirements, various changes in the form, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to without departing from the nature of the invention.

T he umbrella comprises a sectional stick embodying the parts 1 and 2 which preferably have a telescopic arrangement andV which when extended are heldin the adjusted position by means of 'a suitable catch B. The handle is divided longitudinally and comprises the sections 13 and 14 which are hingedly connected to swing into open-position to admitof folding and unfolding the umbrella. A suitable catch l5 holds the sections 13 and 14 when closed. rllhe sectional handle may be of uniform diameter throughout, or one end may be enlarged.
