IMPROVEMENT IN PLuG-ToB-Acco.
Specification forming part of `Letters Patent No. 158,604, dated January 12, 1875; application filed November 27, 1874.

Be it known that I, CHARLES SIEDLER, of New York city,ii1 the State of New York,
`have invented certain Improvements relating to Plug-Tobacco, of which the following is a specification:
I'manufaeture plug-tobacco with a (listinguishing label of metal or other suitable mater-ral, impressed into the bodyof the plug beneaththe wrapper. It may carry marks indicating the qualityvof the goods, the address of the manufacturer, or other desired information.
The following is adeseription of what lconsiderthe best means otl carrying' -out the iuventiolL and tastefully-shaped piece of thin or tinnediron, punched into the form desired, and struck up by dies, so as to present on the face the desired letters or marks, and having points b bent backward from its edges. fore giving the plug of tobacco its iinal pressure the metal B b is placed in proper position upon it by an attendant, and by subsequent powerful pressure the labelis sunk into the body of the tobacco, so that its face is about flush with the outer surface thereof', and its points b sink quite deeply into the moist dense mass. v'[t adheres firmly.
