0. A further object of the invention is the provision of a cabinet of the character described which also afl'ords holding ice or other .refrigerantand for holding food products or like articles in position to be kept in good condition.

Other objects and .advantages of the invention will be apparent fromtthe 'following description, considered in conjunction with the accompanyin'g' drawings, in which:

The' improved cabinet comprises a bottom .1, a front 2, a back 3, a pair of side walls 4, and ;a top 5 made 'of any suitable material, preferably Wood, and Secured togetherin an suita le known manner. The front- 2 is orned with a relatively large opening 6 in the lower part thereof. A door '7 is endto the ont 2 at the lower edge of the opening 6, as by neans of hinges such as shown at 8 in Figure 1, and is swingable from open position as indicated by the dash lnesin Figure 1 to position to close the opening as indicated by the full lines in Figure 1, the axis of swinging movement of the door 7 being horizontal. A handle 9 maybe Secured to .the door 7 for convenience in swinging the door from closed to open position'.

'A platform for-supporting a plurality of cans 10 or like receptacles comprises a removable plate-like iupper section ll and a plate-like lower section 12 on which the upper section is'superimposed.

The platform is supported in horizontal position above the bottom -1 of the case by means of front andrear pivoted supporting

14 and 15 respectively. 'The upper ends of the rear supporting bars 15' are received between pairs of spaced attaching strips 16 which are Secured to the undersid of the lower section 12 of the platform adjacent to opposite ends of the lower section of the platform, the attaching bars extending transversely of the platform or in other words arallel to the sides 4 of the case.

The upper end portions of the supporting bars '15 are attached to the attaching strips 16 by aline'd a horizontal ivot elements which may be 'bolts 'extende through horizontally alined openings in the strips 16 at the upper end portions of the bars 15 as indicated at 17 in Figures 1, 3 and 4. The free ends of the bolts 17 may be engaged by nuts 18 and thus held against accidental displacement.

The up er end portions of the supporting bars' 14 a so extend between the attaching strips 16 adjacent to the forward ends of the latter, and are attached to the attaching strips by means of alined horizontal ivotally attached at its lower i liti bolts 19, the free ends of which are threadedly engaged by nuts 20.

Pairs of spaced transversely extending attaching strips or sills 21 are Secured on the bottom 1 of the case in positions which correspond to the positions of the pairs of attaching strips 16 on the lower side'of the platform, each pair of attaching strips being directly underneath the corresponding strips 16. The lower end portions of the supporting bars 15 depend between the attaching sills or strps 21 and are pivotally attach'ed to the latter by means of alined horizontal bolts 22. Nuts 23 threadedly engage the free ends of the bolts 22. The supporting bars 14 depend between the attaching sills 21 and are pivotallv attached to the letter by means of alined horizontal .bolts 24 having nuts 25 in threaded engagement' with the free ends thereof. the arrangement being such that the bars 14 are parallel to the bars 16 and will be substantially perpendicular to' the bottom wall when the platform is -disposed entirely within the case, as shown by the-full lines in Figures 1, 3 and 4. Links 26 have the inner end portionsthereof attached by alined horizontal pivot elements 27 to the outer attaching strip 16 adjacent to the forward ends of the letter and therefore .adjacent to the forward edge of the platform. The outer ends of the links 26 are attached by alined horizontal pivot elements 28 'to inwardly extending arms 29 of right-angular brackets having attaching arms 30 rigidly Secured to the inner side of the door 7 adjacent to the lower end of the letter. The bracket arms 29 and the links 26 comprise toggles which connect the lower section of the platform 'with the door 7 so that the platform will be swung outwardly and downwardly from position within the ease as shown by the full lines in Figure 1 to position toprotrude froni the case through the opening 6 as indicated by the-dash lines in Figure 1 when the door 7 is in the position shown by the dash lines-in Figure 1. The platform will be positioned at a lower level when it extends through the opening 6 then when it is entirely disposed within the case. The upper section 11 of the platform is provided with vertical apertures or seats 31 in which the lower end portions of the cans 10 or other suitable receptacles rest, wher-eloy the -cans will be held against aecidental displacement from upright positions on 'the platform when the 'platform is moved from the positions shown by the full lines in Figure 1 to the position indicated by the dash lnes in Figure 1. A lever 32 is fulcrumed at 33 adj acent to its lower end on the forward end of the suporting arm of a bracket 34 which is secure -igidly, as at 35,- to the back 3 of the case adjacent to the lower end of the letter'. The lever 32 is swingable about a and the platform attaches the upper end of the lever 32 to the pendent arni of a bracket 37 which is Secured to the lower section of the platform adjacent to the rearward edge of the latter. A tension spring 38 is attached at its inner end to the lower end of the lever 32 and is attached at its forward or outer end to a bolt 39 which extends through an opening in the front 2 adjacent to the lower end of the latter and is threadedly engaged by a nut 40 which can be adjusted to vary the tension on the spring 38.

The upper part of the front 2 of the cabinet case is formed with a pair of side by side openings as at '41 in which a pair of doors 42 of the'refrigerator type fit. The doors 42 are attached at their outer edges to the front 2 bv hinges 43 and may be releasablv held closed by suitable latching deend may extend from the lower edge of the vertical partition 45 to the Iefthand side wall of the cabinet case. A left hand upper chamber thue will be defined in the upper part of'the cabinet case rearwardly of the left hand door 42 and a right hand upper chamber will be defined in the upper part of the cabinet case rearwardly of the right hand door 42. The left hand upper compartment may be fitted with' the usual metal linin'g, (not shown) and other usual equipment, such as the drain pipe 48, and

thus adapted to hold ice. The right hand upper compartment may be lined and' fitted with metal or porcelain equipment, not shown, and may be adpated to receive trays, not shown, for supporting any sort of prod ucts desired. The doors may include glass panele, as at 49, to permit a view of the interier of each of the upper compartments while the doors 42 are closed. The left hand door 42 may marked thereon.

The cabinet is especially adapted for use by retail merchants for the keeping of cans of lard or other recept-acles and substances have the word Ice so that quantities of lard or other substances platform a like receptacles will be kept housed and pro-` tected from dust and other sources of contamination during the intervals between sales of substances from thecans or like' rec'cptacles. The opening of the door 7 of the cabinet will cause the platform to be moved from retraeted position within the cabinet case to position to extend from the cabinet case. The spring 38 is under tension at all times to actuate the lever continuously to tend to return the platform from extended position to retracted position within the cabinet case. The action of the spring 38 also tends to hold the door 7 closed although it is obvio'us that other; `means, not shown, may ,be provided for holding the door releasably against movement from closed position, if desired. The upper section of the platform is removable from the lower section of the platform and can be moved with the cans or other receptacles thereon from position on the lower section of the platform if-desired and of course replacedwith the cans or other're ceptacles thereon in position on the lower section. I

Obviously, many modifications and adaptations of the form of the device which is illustrated in the accompanying drawings and described in the foregoing may be provided without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention, and 'we therefore consider as our own all such modifications and adaptations thereof as fairly fall within the scope of the appended claims.
