BOTTLE WASHER.

rllhis invention relates to bottle washers, and more particularly to those designed for connection with a water faucet.
lhe object of the invention is to provide a washer of this character which may be quickly attached to a faucet without the use ot a permanent connection, and when not designed for use, may be readily removed and laid away. v
Another object is to provide a device o this character which is simple in construction and which is brought into operation ny simply placing a bottle thereover and pressing it down.

ln the embodiment illustrated, the bottle washer constituting this invention comprises a supporting rod or post 1 designed to rest at its lower end on the bottom of the sink S and which carries at its upper end a tubular shell 2, here shown having threaded connection with the post 1. This shell 2 is provided in its opposed side walls with longitudinally extending slots 3 for a purpose presently to bel described.
The upper end of the shell 2 is closed by a screw plug lwhich carries a pipe 5 equipped at its opposite ends with nozzles 6 and 7.
A plunger' 8 is closely litted in the shell 2 for sliding movement therein, and is equipped at its upper end with a rubber washer 9 designed to normally close the nozzle 7 at the lower end of the pipe 5. This washer 9 is secured to the plunger by a cap 10. p

This casing 11i is open at its upper and lower ends and is provided at its upper end with an annular groove 15 to form a seat to receive the mouth of the bottle B to be washed.
rl`he casing 14 is provided in its opposed side walls near its upper end with elongated openings 16 through which water supply pipes 17 and 18 are designed to extend, and which enter the shell 2 at opposite sides thereof at a point adjacent the nozzle 7, as is shown clearly in Fig. 2. YThese pipes 17 and 18 have right angular extensions 19 and 2() equipped at their free ends with sockets 21 which are designed to t snugly around the mouth of the faucets F and ll for supplying hot and cold water respectively to the washer. These sockets 21 are suitably packed to provide a watertight connection with the faucet.
ln the use of this washer, the parts being in the position shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the bottle B to be washed is placed over the pipe 5 with the nozzle 6 extending up into tne body of the bottle and with the mouth of the bottle seated in the groove 15. The water faucets, one or both, are then opened and pressure exerted on the bottle B sufciently to move the casing 11i downwardly, carrying with it the plunger 8. This movement opens the nozzle 7 at the lower end of the pipe 5 and permits the water flowing in through the pipes 17 and 18 to pass upwardly through the pipe 5 into the bottle B being discharged through the nozzle 6 and enters the bottle under pressure, whereby the bottle is thoroughly washed. Vfhen it is desired to sterilize the bottle in addition to cleansing it, the cold water faucet may be cut 0E and hot water only supplied. Y
