C. M. DREVET ROTARY PUMP Filed FebA l2. 1923 Patented May 18, 1926. j
UNITED STATES ULAUDE MARIUS DREVT, 0F IEARIS, FRANCE.
ROTARY rum.
Application led February 12, 1923. Serial No. 618,698.
This invention relates to improvements in machines driven by a liquid or gaseous iuid and also to improvements in machines serving to draw and force such fluid, and its object is to provide an improved machine of this kind arranged for use either as. a fluid driven or as a liuid pumping machine and which is simplel in construction, may be readily manufactured, and is reliable in operation.
One'form of the invention lis illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Fig. l is a sectional view on the plane indicated by the line D-E of Fig. 2.
.Fig 2 is a sectional view on the plane 1ndicated by the lines A-B of Fig. 1. If considering the drawings from the point of view of a motor, it will be noticed that the pressure of a gas, of a liquid, or the expansion due to the explosion of a carburetvted gas applied at V, will effect a rotary motion of the whole movable system, the exhaust being rendered possible through O in the direction of the arrow. Therefore, the system implies the idea of a motion exerting pressure, and of the exhaust or escape of the latter at each rotation.
Considering thesame drawings from the point of view of drawing and forcing machines, supporing the rotation going on in the direction of the arrow, the drawing or sucking Will take place at O between the point of the tangent and the pallet in the engendered volume V, while on the other side in the volume V which is constantly diminishing, compression or forcing will result. Hence such case implies the idea of aspiration and of forcing.
Referring especially to Fig. 1, this figure shows an outer shell 7' in the interior of which is a cylinder e led in its rotary motion by a pallet z' articulated at one of its v extremitiesfi'n the ,outershell j and sliding with the aid.of rollers with ball bearings in the interior of the cylinder e..
whereof the heads g, g are fastened, re-
volves around a central,fixedaxiswhile the,
central cylinderl H'.I'o'tate's around an axiswhih. is aai-fixed but.da,eaiiecenaiecally'jvithl regardfto thersai central y.axisj aiiidibatesa. @entfal- Simft 'fixed to suitable'structure and liept-.ilmmvablei' ,mg-.cylinder e. is.I eeceatrically.; arranged in the outer shell y' and the shaft a being fixed, the crescent formed by the eccentricity of the cylinder e in the shell j doesnot change its configuration. The tangential point relmains constantly situated in the prolongation of the axis A C passing through the two centers of rotation of the big shell y' and of the inner cylinder e.
J The shell j has' ducts at one side at the center and also has a peripheral-port O.
The cylinder o has a peripheralyport O.. A radially arranged pallet i is slidablethrough the periphery of the inner cylinder, lies in a plane extending through the center of said inner cylinder, is of such length as -to extend through the center of the inner cylinder and has its outer end pivotally mounted in the periphery of the shell j, as shown.
b is the centering ball bearing for the shell y'. c is a fixed projection carryin at its extremity the oscillating bearing d,s1nce it is mechanically advisable to preventl the inner cylinderfrom being influenced, owing to a lack of parallelism between the axis of rotation of the shell and the axis' of the projection c. f and f are segments assuring contact on the faces and hence the tightness of the inner cylinder against the faces. Z and n are adjusted bars or the like assuring tightness of the pallet against the faces, and during its sliding motion in the interior of the core, light springs 4such as k assure contacts against the faces. h is the motion causing or the motion transmitting shaft placed in the same axis as the shaft a.
What I`claim is:
In a rotary pump, a cylinder mounted for rotation and having ducts at one side at vthe center and a peripheral port; a smaller cylinder eccentrically arranged in the first-named cylinder, having a fixed'axis of rotation and further provided with a peripheral. port, said cylinders being in mutual peripheral contact at one point, and a radially arranged v pallet, lying -i-n a plane extending through The outer shell j, to the lateral faces` thecenter of the inner cylinder, slidable throughthe periphery of said inner cylinder, of such length as to extend also through-the center 'of the inner cylinder ,and at itsouter His-ray MII
