Description

M. LAJuIE el M. Formular.Y
Apparatus for A'erating Ale and Beer in Casks.
No.15a,5'os. Patefdjan. 5,1875.
UNITED- STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MOSES LAJIE AND MATHIAS PONGELET, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN.
IMPROVEMENT IN APPARATUS FOR AERATING ALE AND BEER IN CIASKS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 158,503, dated January 5, 1875; application filed November 7, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, MOSES LAJOIE and MATELAS PoNoELET, of Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented an Improved Apparatus for Aerating Ale and Beer in Gasks, of which the following is a specih'cation:
The object of our invention is to provide a simple and cheap apparatus, by means of which ale, beer, and other liquors on draft in casks can be charged with air at any pressure desired. l
The invention consists in providing the barrel of a faucet or draft-cock with a check-valve, for retaining in the cask the air that is forced into it through said check-valve by an ordinary air-pump.
In the drawing, A represents a metal draftcock or faucet, having a cheek-valve, B, tapped into the side of its barrel behind the plug. G is an air-pump, adapted to be screwed to the oor by screws through the iange at its base,
which is perforated to admit air to the valve in the bottom of the pump-cylinder, which is connected with the inlet ofthe check-valve by a flexible hose, D.
By means ofthe pump, atmospheric air can be forced into the cask through the Valve and cock, aerating the contents of the Cask, and keeping any desired head 0r pressure upon its contents, which do not become stale or dat when aerated in this manner.
Vhat we claim as our invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
r I he combination, with the cock A, of the check-valve B, and an air-pump connected therewith by a iflezziblepipe,H substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
MosEs LAJOIE. MATEIAs PoNoELET.
