Patented May 1.1, 1926.
[TED ST WILSON S. SAUNDERS, OF KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN.
SPARK-PLUG-CLEANING IM?LE1VIENT.
Application filed July 8, 1922.
This invention relates to improvements in spark plug cleaning implements.
The main object of the invention is to provide an improved spark plug cleaning im- 5 plement by means of which a spark plug of a well-known type may be rapidly and effectively cleaned without liabiity of injuring the spark plug.
Objects pertaining to. details and econ- 10 omies of construction and operation will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devices and means described in the 15 following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claim.
A structure embodying the features of my improvement is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawing forming a part of fw'this specification, in which Fig. I is a side perspective of my improved spark plug cleaning implement.
Fig. II is a cross section on a line corresponding to line 22 of Fig. 1, showing structural details.
Serial No. 573,532.
Referring to the drawing, the handle 1 is preferably formed as illustrated of a piece of sheet metal folded upon itself and conformed to a curved cross section, the edges ofthe metal being overlapped on the inner side of the handle as is shown in .Fig. II.
The bristles 2 are formed of spring wire and are clamped within the folds of the handle so that they are supported in an arcuate relation, the bristles projecting a sul' stantial length from the handle so that they may be introduced into a spark plug and by a twisting or turning movement the interior of the plug may be effectively cleaned. The brush may also be effectively used for cleaning the external parts and the electrodes.
My improved spark plug cleaning implement is simple and economical to manufacture and is very efficient. It may be used effectively by inexperienced persons and without liability of injuring the spark plug.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In a spark plug cleaner, the combination of a handle of arcuate curved cross-section formed of sheet metal folded upon itself, and a row of spring wire bristles clamped within the folds of said handle and supported thereby in an arcuate relation.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my 11 and and seal.
