A. ANDERSSON BOTTLE WASHING MACHINE! Filed Feb. 13, 1925 ire] fiwier'qsag/ Patented Apr. 20, 1926.
AXEL ANDERSSON, OF LUND, SVTEDEN.
BOTTLE-WASHING MACHINE.
Application filed February To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AXEL ANDERSSON, a citizen of Sweden, residing at Lund, Sweden, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottle-Washing Machines, of which the following is a specification, refer ence being had to the accompanying drawing.
The object of my invention is to provlde an attachment for bottle-washing machines of the type in which the bottles are disposed in inverted position on a horizontally arranged bottle carrying table revolving step by ste In ottle-washing machines of this kind the washing is carried into eifect by subjecting the bottles to fluid streams at different temperatures and of various kinds, such as warm water, alkali solution and cold water. These cleansing fluids are supplied under pressure through suitable pipes to conduitboxes provided with jet holes or nozzles, which are disposed thereon in such a manner that they, when the revolving table is at a stand-still, register with the mouth of the bottles, so that the fluid streams can issue into the interior of the bottles.
Hitherto the conduit-boxes have been securely fixed to the machine, so that much pains and trouble have been called for to remove the boxes for inspecting or cleansing purposes, and moreover such removal could not be carried out as long as the machine was in operation.
My invention embodies the arrangement of these conduit-boxes in such a manner that they can be detached one by one and individually from the outside at" the circumfen ence of the housing of the machine, which detachment may be carried into effect without the necessity of stopping the machine or interrupting the cleansing operation which may still be carried out by the other conduit-boxes remaining in the machine.
I11 the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of an embodiment of a bottle-washing machine provided with my improved device, Figure 2 is a side elevational view of a detail of the machine, and Figure 3 is an enlarged detail of one of the boxes.
Referring to the drawing the numeral 1 designates a stationary shaft, on which is 13, 1925. Serial No. 8,973.
rotatably mounted the horizontal bottle carrying table 2. This table has holes arranged in radial rows provided with bottle holders 4 for supporting the bottles 3 in inverted position. The machine is surrounded to about half its circumference by a vertical housing 5 which supports the stationary fluid conduit-boxes 6 in horizontal position, the table being in a suitable manner revolved, step by step, by means of a mecha nism not shown in the drawing. According to my invention the fluid conduit-boxes 6 are provided in the usual way with nozzles 7, and each of them is also provided with a flange in the form of a frame 8 which is adapted to be fitted to the outside of the housing 5, the latter having corresponding apertures for the boxes. The flanges 8 are secured to the housing by means of thumbscrews 9 fastened thereon and cooperating with slots 10 in the lugs 12 extending from said flanges as illustrated in Figure 3. It is obvious that this arrangement permits an easy and unrestricted individual detachment and removal of the conduit-boxes from'the housing by removing the wing nuts of the thumb screws 9, after the pipe joint 11 in the pipe connection between the conduit box and the main supply pipe, has been removed, and this detachment and removal may be eflected without disturbing the operation of the machine as such or interrupting the cleansing operation.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is z 1. In a bottle washing-machine, the combination of a stationary vertical housing having an aperture; a stationary fluid conduit-box removably supported in horizontal position within the housing in register at one end with said aperture and having a flange which is disposed in contact with the outer face of the housing in position to cover the aperture and which is provided with apertured lugs; and bolts detachably inserted through the apertures in the lugs and engaged with the housing.
2. In a bottle-washing machine, the combination of a stationary vertical housing having an aperture; a stationary fluid conduit-box removably supported in horizontal. position within the housing in register at one end with said aperture and having a flange which is disposed in contact with the outer face of the housing in position to cover the aperture and which is provided with apertured lugs; bolts detachably inserted through the apertures in the lugs and engaged with the housing; and piping for supplying fluid to the conduit-box opening through said flange and including a detachable section which is connected directly to the flange. 10
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification;
