Be it known that LHonnen R. Ennis, a citizen of the United States,- residing at Meadville, in the county of Crawford and State of Pennsylvania,have invented certain new and useful improvements in Fas tenersl for Sectional ltindow Screens, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a sectional window screen fastener or latch and has for its object to provide a device of such class, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, with means for locking the sections of a window screen in position within the frame of a window.
Further objects of the invention are to provide, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, a sectional window screen fastener or latch, which is simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable, compact, thoroughly efficient and convenient in its use, readily installed with respect to the sections of the window screen, and inexpensive to manufacture.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as hereinafter more specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wher-ein is shown an embodiment of the invention, hut it is to be understood that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which come within the scope of the claim hereunto appended.

Referring to the drawings in detail 1 and 2 generally denote a pair of window screen sections coupled together through the meparts diuin of a pair of combined guide and con` necting rods 3, 4 operating through keepers 5 fixed to the screen sections. The foregoV ing elements are of known construction and are illustrated for the purpose of showing Aadaptation therewith of a locking device in accordance with this invention.

A fastener device for window screen sections, in accordance with this invention, not only includes as elements thereof the keepers 9 and 12, but further include a pair of telescopic fastener bars 14, 15 of Substantial length. The bar 15 is of tubular form and provides a passage 1G into which is adapted to extend the bar 14, and the latter is solid, of cylindrical contour throughout and of a diameter to snugly engage the wall of a passage 16 as well as being solid. VThe socket 10 is of less diameter than the socket 13 and the inner end or rather the outer end of the bar 14 is positioned within the said socket` 9. The outer end of the bar-15 is positioned within the socket 13. The inner terminal portion of the bar 14 is formed with a series of spaced diametrically extending openings 17 and through any one of said openings is adapted to extend the hasp`18 of a lock 19. The bars 14 and 15 are detachahly mounted in their respective sockets.

F or fastening the screen frame sections in V position, the screen is opened to the desired extent and during the shifting of the screen sections relatively to each other the rod 14 slides in or out of the rod 15, until the screen is adjusted to the desired position. The hasp 18 of the lock 19 is then passed through an opening 17 to prevent the rod 15 from passing' .over the rod 14 in the direction toward the keeper 9 and under such conditions the screen sections are fastened in place. The openings 17 are so disposed that when the rods 14 and 15 are shifted relatively to eachother, an opening 17 will be positioned in proximity to' the inner end edge of the rod or har 15-so that the edge will abut against the hasp 18.
It is thought that the many advantages of a window screen lock, in accordance with this invention Vcan be readily understood andalthough the preferred embodiment of the invention is as illustrated and described, it is to he understood tiat changes in the details of construction can be had which will fall within the scope of the invention asclaimed.
What I claim is:
A fastener device for Window screen sections comprising a pair of keepers each adapted to be secured to the outer end rail of a Screen section on the rear face thereof and each formed With a socket opening at the inner side of its respective keeper, a tubular fastener bar having its youter end seated in the socket of one of said keepers, a solid cylindrical fastener bar telescoping in said tubular bar and having` its outer end seated in the socket of the other vsaid keepers, and Said solid bar having its inner terminal portion provided with a row of spaced diametrically extending openings for selectively receiving` the hasp of a lock eX- teriorly of the inner end edge of the tubular bar to arrest movement of the latter on and in a direction towards the outer end of the solid bar and to arrest movement of the latter in and towards the outerl end of the tubular bar thereby fastening the screen sec-.
