UNITED STATES PATENT FFKQE.
WILLIAM SANDER, OF SNQQUALMIE FALLS, XVASHINGTON.
DISPLAY neon.
Application filed March 16, 1925. Serial No.15,84=0.
\ certain new and useful Improvement in -Display Itacks, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in display racks for vegetables and fruits and the object of my invention is to provide a display rack that is simple in its plan of construction and efficient in preserving and displaying vegetables and other merchandisc and to further render said display rack more convenient to use.
Another object is to'provide a portable display rack that is equipped with means for spraying water onto vegetables that may be placed in the trays to thereby wash said vegetables and keep the same fresh and sanitary.
Further objects are to provide a display rack having trays that are inclined clown- Wardly toward the front side of the rack so that the merchandise will be displayed in a better and more pleasing manner and toprovide a display rack having on its end shelves on which goods or containers of goods, as baskets, boxes, etc., may be placed.
I accomplish these objects by devices illustrated in the accompanying drawings, whereiu---- Figure 1 is a view in front elevation of a display rack-constructed in accordance with my invention; 1
Fig. 2 is an end view of the same; and
Fig. 3 is an inverted plan view showing one of the trays detached and showing water spray pipes that are disposed adjacent the bottom oi: the tray for spraying water on the trays below.
Referring to the drawings, throughout which like reference numerals indicate like parts, 5 and (5 designate two normally vertical end 'l'rames mounteq on wheels or castcrs t filld'iiOlll'llliQ' the supporting structure of the display rack and the numerals 7, 8, 9 and 10 indicate trays arranged in spaced relation one above the other and inclined downwardly from rear to front ot-the displa rack so that persons in front ot the rec may view the contents of the trays from an advantageous angle.
The trays 7, 8, 9 and 10 are r gidly ,se
cured to the end. frames 5 and. '6 and constitute a supporting structure therebetween.
The upper tray 10 is preferably shallower than the other racks and is provided with The two middle trays S t" and 9 are preferably provided with bottoms of wire mesh as indicated at-11 so that a solid bottom.
water may pass freely through said trays into. the lower tray 7 which also has a solid bottom and is provided adjacent its -front or lowermost edge with a water discharge pipe 12. r ater spray pipes 13 extend longitudi nally of the display rack above each of the three lowermost trays 7, 8 and 5 said pipe preferably being disposed adjacent the bottom of the trays 8, 9 and 10 respectively whereby they will be out of the way and out of sight but will each be suitably positinned to deliver a spray of water onto the next adjacent tray thercbelow.
An inlet pipe 1 1 connected with a hose supplies water to the spray pipe 13, said inlet pipe preferably being provided with a valve 16 by which the supply of water may 89 be regulated. If desired separate valves may be provided for each spray unit thus making it possible to spray one .or more of the trays.
In the use of my display rack, vegetables 55 that are to be kept moist may be placed on the three lower trays 7, 8 and 9 and the necessary water for washing and cleaning the vegetables and "for keeping the same moist and cool may be sprayed over them from time totime by opening the valve 16.
The vegetables in the trays are easily seen from in front of the display rack and may be arrangedin a neat and attractive manner so that they will draw-the attention 9 ot the purchasing public, the angular position of the trays permitting the purchaser to look directly into the trays.
B racltets or shelves 17 each preferably consisting of two cross arms bent upwardly at their respective extremities, as at 1.8, are provided on both ends of the display rack for the reception of boxes, baskets and similar containers for merchandise.
Merchandise of any kind that is not to be washed or sprinkled may be placed on the upper tray 10 and there displayed while baskets and boxes oflfr'uits may be placed. on the shelves at the end of the rack. I
'lhc foregoing description and 2,6693%. m,
enying drawings clear y disclose pre- TQYI'QCl embodiment of my invention but it will be understood that this disclosure is merely illustrative and that such changes in the some may be made as are within the scope end spirit of my invention.
