MEANS FOR PREVENTING BAGGING AT THE KNEES OF NEWS TROUSERS.
Application filed June 5, 1922. Serial No; 565,952.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRrrz Fnsnu, a citizen of the German Republic, and residing at 10 Neue Mainzerstrasse, Frankfort-on-the- Main, Germany, have invented Certain new and useful Improvements in Means for Preventing Bagging at the Knees of Mens Trousers, of which the following is a specifi-v cation, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
Y My invention relates to men's trousers with pieces or patches of web-like fabric, preferably.lining-batiste, stitched inside the trouser leg at the knee of the trouser to preand consists in having these pieces or patches fully stretched and extended lengthwise before being sewn at the knee portionof the trousers. The effect of this is, that when the knee is flexed, the patch, incapable of further longitudinal extension, is spread transversely and draws up the trouser material, yet only for the time the knee is bent,
returning to its normal state, when the 2 trouser knee is straightened again. My invention'is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which F igure 1 shows a pair of mens' trousers with the insertion indicated by a broken line.
Figure 2 is an elevation of the piece or patch of web-like fabric sewn to the inside of the trouser material along the crease.
Figure 3 shows the piece or patch of weblike fabric before it is stretched and sewn tothe garment.
In the drawing a, Figure 1, is the trouser and 5-, Figures 2 and 1, is the customary crease. :The piece or patch of fabric consists of diagonal or doublediagonal material of web-like nature, for instance lining-batiste, and .has at first the shape, de-- .picted in Figure 3. It is then stretched vent the bagging at' the knees of the latter,
By these conslderable reduction of width.
having been attained. The piece or patch of web-like fabric 0 stretched lengthwise is sewn in known manner at the knee portion along the crease b by means of the stitches- (l, and along its edges by means of the stitches e, 6, so that it is attached to the inside of the trouser knee.
\Vhen thetrouser knee thus lined is bentby the flexing of the knee, the piece or patch of web-like fabric 0, being already stretched lengthwise to its utmost limit. not only pre- The stretching produccsat the same time a disvents the trouser. material from i being stretched in the direction of the crease but is itself spread or stretched transversely by.
the movement of the knee, ready to return to its "usual shape, as soon as the knee is stretched agaln. The result is that the piecc'or patch of web-like fabric is shortened longitudinally and draws together the trouser material transversely of the crease. As soon as the trousers are straightened again, the piece or patch c is restoredto it's elongated state, and the occurrence of unsightly bagginess at the knees is prevented.-
What I claim as myinvention and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
Mans trousers with' pieces or patches of web-like fabric, stitched inside the trou er leg at' the knee of the trouser to'prevent the bagging at the kneesof the latter, said pieces or patches beingextended diagonally to the cross of the threads up to the limit of their capacity in this direction and being elastic only transversely and. connected immovably with the trouser material by stitches along the edges and the crease, thereby preventing the stretching orbagging of the latter.
In testimony whereof, I have affixed my signature. a v
. v FRITZ FESER.
