To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, EDWARD CHARLES FREDERICK OAKLEY, a subject of. the King of Great Britain and Ireland, residing at Nor-bury, in the county of Surrey, England,

have invented certain new and useful Im- .provements in Hack and like Frame Saws,

of'which the following is'a specification.

The present invention relates to improvements in hack and like frame saws, and it has for its object a form of frame which will enable large sheets of metal or other materialto be cut up in any desired manner.

The frames of hand operated hack saws as at present constructed are so formed that it is impossible to separate from a large sheet of metal, a piece of greater width than the distance between the saw and the back of the frame. V

The frame comprises a long upper rigid member 1 to one end ofwhich a handle 2 is,

suitably attached, an element of sheet metal 4 riveted or otherwise secured to said member, a short rigid member 3 riveted or otherwise secured to the element it at as great a distance from the member 1 asthe depth of said element will allow and approximately beneath the opposite end of the member 1 to that to which the handle 2 is attached, and means by which the saw blade' 5 may be secured to and tensioned between 1 he members 1 and 3.
