Abstract

509,591. Sifting-apparatus. PLOWRIGHT BROS., Ltd., and DIMBLEBY. T. E. March 12, 1938, No. 8096/39. Divided out of 512,893, [Group XXX]. [Class 117] The screening medium is held in its frame by clamping members extending lengthwise of the screen and adjacent the position to be occupied by the marginal portion of a side of the screening medium, the clamps being moved longitudinally to clamp or release the screening medium. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 5, the screen plate 11 rests on flanges 12a of angle irons secured to side plates 12 each carrying a longitudinally arranged plate 13 having on the lower edge spaced wedge surfaces 13a co-operating with surfaces 17a on a bar 17 resting on the screen plate 11 and adjustable longitudinally by nut 20 on threaded rod 18. The plate 13 is held against side plate 12 by a cover plate 14. Instead of the wedge surfaces, the bar 17 may have inclined slots each co-operating with a pin passed through plates 12 and 14. In the form shown in Fig. 4 the screen plate 11 is held by cams 24 pivotally mounted on the side plates 12 and interconnected by a rod 25, a threaded rod 18 being provided to cause the cams to release or exert pressure on the screen plate.
