Description

March 23 1926.
' c. QTTC VERTICAL CHAMBER OVEN SUPPORTING MEANS Filed April 25, 1925 I H z I ATTORNEY Patented Mar. 23, 1926.
UNITED STATES CARL OTTO, OF HELLERUP, DENMARK.
VEBTICAL-CHAMBER-OVEN-SUPPORTING MEANS.
Application filed April 28, 1925. Serial No. 25,453.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL One, a citizen of the Republic of Germany, residing at Sundjev 14, Heller-up, Denmark, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vertical-Chamber-Oven-Supporting Means, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to vertical chamber ovens and particularly to means for supporting such ovens when built in rows, in a united block, so as to avoid distortion of the oven supporting beams and consequent damage to the ovens due to the expansion of the walls and beams by heat.
One of the objects of the invention is to provide a supporting frame comprising a beam structure for the ovens which will readily take up the expansion due to heat and preserve a uniform supporting base under all conditions of working. 7
With the-above and other objects in view my invention consists in the parts, improvements and combinations, more fully pointed out hereinafter.
Figure 1, of the drawings is a front elevation of the vertical oven with its expanding supporting frame, and
Figure 2, is a detail of a part of the supporting beam structure.
In the drawing, I provide means which permit the beam supports for the ovens to preserve their vertical load carrying positions in the middle of the oven as well as at the sides. The vertical oven chambers .10, are arranged in a row, the heating walls 11, for the ovens being over their respective I-beams. The supporting beams, such as I- beams 1, at the outer sides of the oven, are supported on sliding supports, such as roller bearings 2. These roller bears 2, may run between tracks 3, 4c. The bottoms of I- beams 1, which are secured to tracks 3, are
connected by cross or tie-rods 5, with the tops of the adjacent I-beams. When the iron plate-strengthening member 6, for the.
oven wall 7, expands, when subjected to the heat of the ovens, the upper parts'of adjacent I-beams separate due to the expansion. The lower supporting parts of the beams 1, are pulled along on the rollers by thr connecting rods so that the beams 1, remain vertical. The two ends of the oven which are carried by upright posts 12, can, likewise, expand, these parts being supported on the end rollers, as illustrated. The middle portion of the oven is provided with fixed, nonsliding, supporting I-beams, the lateral expansion and spreading of the supports taking place at the sides of the oven. The supporting pillars 8, are provided for supporting the oven.
Having thus described the invention and its operation, it will be understood that changes may he made in carrying the invention into effect, without departing from the principle thereof.
hat I claim is:
1. The combination with a row. of vertical chamber ovens of a supporting framework therefor, said framework including a plurality of spaced supporting beams, and means for supporting the bottoms of said beams so as to permit bodily lateral movement of the beams.
2. The combination with a row of vertical chamber ovens of a supporting framework therefor, said framework including a plurality of spaced supporting beams, and roller bearings for slidingly supporting the bottoms of said beams so as to permit bodily lateral movement of the beams;
' 3. The combination with a row of vertical chamber ovens of a supporting framework therefor, said framework including a plurality of spaced beams, tie rods for connecting the bottoms of said beams with the tops of adjacent beams, and means for slidingly' supporting the bottoms of said beams so as to permit bodily lateral movement of the beams.
4. The combination with a row of. vertical chamber ovens of a supporting framework therefor, said framework including nonsliding supporting beams at the middle of the oven and laterally slidable supporting beams at the sides of the oven.
5. The combination with a row of vertical chamber ovens of a supporting framework therefor, said framework including non-sliding supporting beams at the middle ofthe oven and laterally slidable supporting beams at the sides and ends of the oven.-
In witness whereof, I have signed my name to this specification.
- CARL OTTO.
