In the form shown in the drawings, the body ofV an automobile, inclu-des an' upright door post 10 which serves as a support for `a jainb member 12, bent from sheet metal to provide a Channel portion 1/1, which forms a seatI against which door 16 closes, and preferably also a flange 18 which forms aoinfg for' the edge of post lO. The portion 2i may be flattened down in a number ot different ways, within the scope of my invention, as by a die-shaping or lcrushing operation (Figure which has the advantage of providing side walls for the latch-receiving recess, or by cutting through the metal at spaced points to provide a tongue which 1s bent down into place (Figure 7), this method providing sharp corners Jfor the recess.
To regard this same subject-matter from a slightl,y difi'crent point o'f view, it may be said that there are two alined channel portions ii separated by a latch receiving gap haring a bottoni wall 2i which1 in the iorn. shown in Figure il, serves to connect them.
l According'to'anothcr teature of the invention, door 1G is engaged by bumpers comprising resilient blocks 30 et rubber or similar material, .n'iountedin holders 32 which are arranged to grasp the blocks by their sides, and which are shouldered to engage the outer tace o1" channel portion let. The holders are slidably arranged in recesses formed in the j amb member by cutting openings in the channel portion, and are arranged to be adjusted to take up for wear or inequalities in blocks 30 by turning screws 3l threaded through openings in thebottoms of the holders. Screws 34 are held against longitudinal movement by washers 3G keyed thereto, and by engagement oit their heads with the inner face of flange portion lil, where the heads are readily accessible.
For the sake of neatness of appearance, I preter that the usual ornamental facing or piping 38 be arranged to cover the inner edge of the jamb member and t-he heads of screws Si. Holes 40 may be cut in the facing it desired, to permit adjustment ot the screws atter the facing is in place.
rihe advantages of a unitarv jamb member such as described, together with the novel latch-receiving recess and the improved bumpers, will be obvious, and while one illustrative construction has been described, it is not my intention to limit the scope ot' the invention to that particular construction or otherwise than by the terms ot' the appended claims.

3. A door casing comprising a sheet-metal janib member bent to have a channel portion to term a seat for a door, part oi the channel portion being flattened doii'n into a plane substantially parallel to the top face of the channel portion to form a bottom wall for a latch-receiving recess.
4, A door casing comprising a sheet-metal jamb member bent to have two alined door engaging channel portions separated by a latch-receiving gap having a bottom wall.
A door casing comprising a sheet metal jauib member bent to have a channel portion to torni a seat for a door and an adjacent iacingtlange `for a door pest, part of the channel portion being flattened down into the pla-ne of the flange, to cooperate with a striker plate mounted on the fiange to define a latch-receiving recess.

A door casing comprising, in combination, a sheet-metal amb member bent to have a channel portion and an adjacent facing tlange, the channel portion being cut away to define an opening, a holder containing a resilient block slidably engaging the edges o' the opening and slidably engaging the flange, the holder being shouldered to engage the face of the channel portion, an adjusting screw threaded into a hole in the bottom of the holder and having its head accessible from the opposite face of the channel portion, and means -fior lholding the screw against longitudinal movement in the channel portion.
7. A door casing comprising, in combination, a sheet-metal jamb member bent to haveV a channel portion and an adjacent facing fiange, the channel portion being cut away to detine an opening, a holder containing a resilient block and arranged in the opening slidably engaging the edges of the opening and slidably engaging the flange, and a screw for adjusting the holder to advance said block.

A door casing comprising, in combination, a jamb member having a recess, a shouldered holder in the recess containing a resilient blocl and arranged slidably to engage the sides ot' the recess, and an adjusting screw engaging the holder and operable from outside the casing to advance said block.

bumper-adjusting means beneath and concealed by said facing.
