Description

J. H. PETTY FIXTURE HOLDER March 9 1926.
Filed Feb.. 12 1925 INYENTOR UNITED STA A NTpoFFicE.'
JOSEPH HENRY 51 mm,. or TBENTON, NEw'JiERsEY.
,rrfx'rnnn HOLDER},
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH H. Pn'r'rY, a
citizen of the United States, and a resident of Trenton, in the county of Mercer and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fixture Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a recessed fixture holder or mounting which is especially designed and adapted to properly mountand hold the so-called recessed type ,of fixtures in bath rooms which are not tiled but which have plastered walls or walls of any other type except tiled walls.
One of the principal objects of the invention resides in the provislon of a fixture.
holder or mounting of this character which is adapted to engage and hold the fixture and which is also adapted to coact withand be supported upon the ordinary studding of a bath room wall whereby to permit the use of the ornamental recessed type of fixture in homes of moderate price which have plastered walls in the bath room.
Other objects and advantages reside in certain novel features of the construction, arrangement and combination of parts which will be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part .of this specification, and in which,
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a recessed fixture held in the wall by a holder or mounting embodying my present invention.
Figure 2 is a view partly inelevation and partly in section showing how the fixture is held prior to the application of the plaster to the wall, and I Figure 3 is a detailed perspective view of the fixture or holder. i
Referring to the drawings it will be seen that the present invention provides a fixture holder made up of aframe designated generally at 1 and consisting of two sections, each section lncludmg a side bar 3, an upper end bar 4 having an apertured lug 5 and a similar lower endbar 6 having an apertured h1g7. The lugs 5 as well as the lugs 7 are opposed to each other and their apertures are alined. Thru'the alined apertures of the lugs 5 and 7 clampin screws designated at 8 and 9 are inserted. The head 8 of the screw 8 are gages one of, the lugs *5 and the other lug 5' is engaged by a nut 10 having threaded engagement' with the screw. Similarly the head 9 of the screw 9 is engaged with one of the lugs? while the other lug 7' is engaged by a nut 11 having threadedengage screws 8 and 9 and their nuts 10 and 11.
Prior to clamping the frame on the body 13 of the fixture one of its sections is fastened to a stud S by inserting the screws,'nails or other fastening means employed through the openings 12 and engaging such fastening means with the stud. The fastening means are also inserted through the other section.
and engaged with a short stud S. Afterwards the sections are clamped about the body B of the fixture and the'short stud S suitably secured in position. It may be found suflieient to secure one end of the side bar 3 to a stud. r 1
The holder which constitutes the present invention firmly and properly positions the I fixture Fin the wall and makes it possible to use the recessed type of bath room fixture with an ordinary plaster wall or with any type of wall that is not tiled.
What I claim is: g 1. A device for use inholding and mounting recessed type of fixtures in bath rooms having plastered walls, comprising a frame extending entirely around and embracing and directly engaging the fixture, the frame itself both framing and clamping the fixture, the frame having portions adapted to coact with fastening means for securing the frame to studding or the like. 2. A device for use in holding and mount ing recessed type offixtures in bath rooms having plastered walls, comprising a sectional frame embracing and directly engaging the fixture, means independent of the fixture for clamping thesections of the frame to the fixture, the frame having means adapted to coact with fastening devices for securing the frame to studding or the like.
A. device for use in holding mount ing recessed type of fixtures in bath rooms having plastered walls, coinprislng a frame made up of similar sectlons embracing the the same, each section including a side bar engaging a side of the fixture and upper and lower bars engagingrespectively portions of the upper and lower ends of the fixture, the
upper and lower bars having upertured lugs opposed in assembly, clumping nuts and screws cooperable with the aperturcd lugs. the frame having openings adapted {0 1c ceive fastening devices whereby the frame may be secured to studding or the like.
