To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PERCIVAL W. JoNns, a citizen of theUnited States, and a'resident of Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented an Improvement in Construction for Eyeglass Parts and the like, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to the construction of eyeglass parts and the like. One of the objects thereof is to provide a simple and practical arrangement whereby metallic and non-metallic parts are securely connected together in devices of the general nature of that herein described. Another object is to provide a nosewng-aging "member for eyeglasses and the like of inexpensive and secure construction and well adapted to meet conditions of usei Another object is to provide an art for forming constructions of the above nature which is simply and conveniently carried on and dependable in its results. Other objects will be in part obvious and in part pointed out hereinafter.
The mvention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combinations of elements and arrangement of parts and in the various combinations of 'ste s, all as will be illustratively herein descri ed and the scope of the application of which will be indicated in the ollowing claims.
In the accompanying drawing in which is shown one of various possible embodiments of this invention and certain steps involved in the making thereof,

' Considering Lnow thisdrawing in detail, there is shown in Figure 1 a metallic base of a nose-enga ing member such as is used in the so-cal e finger piece type of e eglasses. This memberwlll be referred to a nose pad althou h it is to be understood that various of the broader features of this invention are applicable to difierent types of construction. The member 17 which is formed of celluloid is thus rendered soft. It may be here be noted that the term celluloid is used in abroad sense to comprehend'various non-metallic materials having similar characteristics.
The softened member 17 with the mold still in position is then forced downwardly toward the forward side of the plate 10 and these parts are ressed together in such 11? are the'parts 13 with their heads 14 embe ded in the celluloid but the latter fills all interstices between them and the part 10 and is urged downwardly to the edge formedby the beveled surfaces 15 and 16.
The mold 18 is then removed and the celluloid member ermitted to cool, it being unhe bottom wall of the mold is roughened or knurled as indicated at 19 so as t rovide a similar exposed surface on the co luloid member.
