and an object of the invention is to provide a device of this kind which may be employed to advantage in removing obstruclions within pipes associated with a wash basin toilet or the like.
It is another object of the invention to provide a device of this general character including a handle member which also constit-utes a pump proper.
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved pump whereby certain important ad vantages are attained and the devicerendered simpler less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In order that my invention may be the better understood, I will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, whcre1n:

As is particularly illustrated in Figure 2 of the drawings, it is to be noted that as the piston P moves towards the member 7 it is .pr e-ted from passing over the out out portion or recess 8 by contact of the knob 17 with the outer end of the handle H. This assures the-piston being in the most effective position when outward pull is imposed thereon.
From the foregoing description it is thought to be obvious that a pump constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without departing from the principles and spirit the eof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as l1ereinafter claimed.
I claini:
A pump of the class described comprising, in combination, a cup-like member having a port through its central portion, an outstanding neck carried by the central portion and surrounding the port, a flap valve secured within cup-like member for closing flow through the port, a handle having an end portion insertible within the neck, said inserted portion of the handle being pro-- vided with a bore open at its outer end so that the port in the cup-like member affords direct con'm'iuni'cation between the chamber of the cup-like member and the bore of the handle, a piston working within the bore of the handle, an operating rod for the piston extending freely through the handle, and an operating knob carried by the outer end portion of the rod,- the inserted end of the handle having a cut out portion affording communication with the bore of said handle, th wall of the neck being provided with a restricted port adapted to communicate with the out out portion of the handle, the knob carried by the rod contacting with the outer end of the handle to stop the movement of the piston in a direction toward the cup-like member befor the same passes over the cut out portion in the inserted end portion ofthehandle.
