Be it known that I, LADDIE ALoIs KREJCI, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Multiple Jacks and Switches, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to improvements 111 multiple jack and switch of the type employed particularly in radio circults, and it consists in the combination, constructions, and arrangements herein described and claimed.
An object of my invention is to provide in a single unit a novel combination of filament and plate circuit switches, together with a plug and jack.
A further object of my invention is to provide a device of the character described in which the filament switches and plate circuit switches are operated simultaneously by movement of the plug when disposed in an operative position in engagement with the jack.
A further object of my invention is to provide a device of the character described in which operation of the switches cannot be carried out unless the plug is in proper engagement with the jack.
A further object of my invention is to provide a device of the character described which is simple in construction, extremely compact in form, and thoroughly practical for the purposes intended.
Otherobjects and advantages will appear in the following specification, and the novel features of the invention will be particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, forming part'of this application, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of an embodiment of my invention,

A rotor 5 also of molded composition is rotatably disposed within the casing by the provision of trunnions 6 and 7 respectively,
forming an integral part of cam members 8 and 9 respectively, which are insulated from one another and disposed at the opposite ends of the rotor. The trunnion 7 is tubular and forms-one terminal of my improved jack. I shall hereinafter refer to this member 7 as the jack sleeve. The jack sleeve being integral with the cam memher 9 is therefore electrically connected therewith.
. The cam member 8 has a contact member 10 associated therewith in axial alignment with the jack sleeve 7. This contact member forms the opposite terminal of the jack.
In Figure 1, in dotted lines, I have shown a standard jack plug 11 having a terminal 12 arranged for projection through the jack sleeve 7, and therefore for electrical connection therewith, and a terminal 13 arranged for connection with the contact member 10 and for electrical connection therewith.
With reference to Figure 7, it will be noted that the rotor 5 has an irregularly shaped filament switch contact plate 14 disposed upon the peripheral wall of the rotor. Contact fingers 15, 16, 17 and 18 respectively are mounted upon the casing 1 and are projected through the walls of the casing one another. When the rotoris rotated the fingers 15 and 16 will be electrically connect ed by means of the plate.
Further rotation of the rotor to the extent of an additional 120 will cause the plate to move in engagement with the finger 17, while; still in engagement with the fingers 15 and 16. Still further rotation of the rotor another 120 willcause the plate to move into engagement with the finger 18 while still in engagement with the fingers 17, 16 and 15. Further rotation of the rotor in the same direction 60 will disconnect all the fingers from the plate 14 and the fingers and rotor will lie inthe same position as when at the start as is shown in Figures 3, 4 and 5. It will .be noted that the description of the rotation of the rotor as .here given is in a clockwise direction.
The fingers 15, 16, 17 and 18 and the plate 14 comprlse what is known as the filament switch of my improved multiple jack and switch and is for the purpose of operating at will, selectively, one, two or three vacuum tubes in the radio circuit with which my improved device is employed and which circuit is illustrated in Figure 8.
The ca'm member'8 is adapted to engage during the rotation of the rotor 5 described selectively, with three switch blades 19, 20 and 21 respectively, constructed of resilient material. The switch blades 19, 20 and 21 contact with the rotor 8 selectively simultaneous with the engagement of the plate 14 with the fingers 15-16, 17 and 18 respectively.
Each of the switch blades 19 and 20 is provided with a combined contact and stop member 22 and 23 respectively with which the switch blades engage when the cam memher is not in engagement therewith. The switch blade 21'has a stop member 24 similar in construction to the contact and 'stop members 22 and 23 with the exception that there is no means for connecting the member 24 with an electrical circuit. The stop members 22 and 23 as well as the switch blades 19, 20 and 21 have integral ears 25 extending exteriorly of the casing 1 by means of which the members may be connected. with an electrical circuit. In like manner each of the fingers 15, 16, 17 and 18 have ears 25 formed integral therewith for connecting the fingers with an electrical circuit.
Three resilient switch blades 26, 27, and 28 are provided for the cam member 9. These blades are identical in construction with the blades 19, 20 and 21, and are disposed in the same relationship with the cam member 9 as are the blades 19, 20 and 21 and the cam 8. Each of the blades 26 and 27 have combined contact and stop memhere 28 and 29 respectively. The blade 28 has a stop member 30 identical to the stop member 24, All the switch blades and contact stop 'members have ears 25 for electrically connecting the members to an electrical clrcuit.
In Fi ure 7, .I have ,shown a View of the rotor 5 from which it will be noted that the trunnion 7 or. jack sleeve has a recess 31 extending longitudinally thereof from the end of the sleeve. A pin 32 (see Figure 1) supported .upon the body of the plug 11 is adapted for projection into the recess 31 when the plug is insertcdin the jack, thus rotation of the plug must occasion rotation of the rotor 5.
