Y A. ESPESETH GRAIN PICKLEH AND LOADER Filed Feb. 21, 1924 Patented Feb. 16, 1926.
UNITED STATES y g 1,573,694 PATENT OFFICE.
ALFRED ESPESETI-I, OF'PROSPY, ALBERTA, CANADA.
GRAIN rIoKLnn-ANn LOADER.
Application filed February 21, 1924 Serial Na. 694,404.
" may be used simultaneously for pickling grain and loading "the same in a wagon or the like.
A still further object of the invention is to provide a device of thisnature having simple and efiicient construction, one which is reliable in operationpcomparatively inexpensive to manufacture, durable, and well adapted to the purpose for which it is designed. j
lVith the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description progresses, the invention resides in'cer- I tain novel features of constructionpand in the combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In'the drawing:
used, V
Figure 2 is a detail view showing the loader in longitudinal cross section, and
Figure 3 is an end elevation of the loader.
Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that the pickler is indicated generally by the letter A and the loader by the letter B. The pickler includes a casing 1 having a hopper 2 and atub 3 disposed therein. The hopper2 is attached adjacent the upper end Within the casing 1 while the tub 3 is disposed at. the bottom thereof. The loader B extends through the casing terminating in the tub'and is'provided with an opening 4L through which the nozzle 5 of thehopper '2 extends.
Thisloader B includes a cylindrical casing 5 having an open end 6 and a closed end 7. A shaft 8 is journaled in the closed end 1 and in a bracket 9 adjacent the open end 6, extending longitudinally through the casing 5 and provided with a spiral blade 10 Figure 1 is a view showing my device as forming an auger like structure. An outlet opening or spout 11 is provided in the casing 5 adjacent the closed end. A gear 12 a is keyed tothe end of the shaft son the outside of the closed end 7 and'is operable by a pinion 13 rotatable bya crank 14.. As is seen in Figure 1 the loader B extends into the pickler at an oblique angle thereto so that the closed endis elevated and may be disposed over a wagon so that upon the rotation of the shaft 8 the contents of the pickler will be delivered to the wagon, The
hopper will receive the grain-while the tub 3will have a formaline solution therein and the solution will bemixe'd with the grain as it is delivered up the loader. 7
It is evident that the loader may be used without'the pickler if so desired for elevating grain or delivering the same from a storing place to a wagon for instance.-
xAlthough I have described my invention with a certain degree of particularity, it is evident that numerous changes in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or j scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed, or sacrificing any of its advan tages. I 1
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is: j
1. A grain treating mechanism comprising a casing, a liquid containing reservoir mounted in the lower. end of the casing and I an angularly disposed tube having one end extending through one side of the casing and projecting into the receptacle and provided with an opening adjacent its inner end, such inner end of the tube being disposed in close proximity to the bottom of the receptacle and having its under face cut away whereby an unrestricted inlet will be provided, and a grain receiving hopper supported in the casing, a discharge tube leading therefrom, and communicating with the opening in the first mentioned tube, and a conveyor means mounted in the first mentioned tubefor conveying the grain to a point remote from the casing after the latter has passed into the lower end of such tube.
2. In combination, a pickler and a loader,
said pickler including a casing having a I hopper therein and a tub therein, said loader including a cylindrical casing extending obliquely through the casing of the piokler so as to terminate in the tub disposed therein and provided with an opening for receiving the spout of the hopper, and deli ering means in the casing of the loader.
3. In combination, a piekler and a loader, said pickler including a casing having a hopper therein and a tub therein, said loader including a cylindrical easing extending obliquely through the casing of the piekler so as to terminate in the tub disposed therein .and provided with an opening for receiving the spoutof the hopper, .a shaft rotatable in the casing of the loader and provided with an auger blade thereon,
said loader casing provided with an Opening adjacent its upper end.
i. In combination, .a casing, a hopper in the casing, a tub disposed below the hopper, a tube extending obliquely through the oasing and terminating in an open end Within the tub and provided with an opening for receiving the spout of the hopper and an other opening adjacent its upper end, and delivery ineans provided Within the tube all in the manner and for the purpose specified.
in testimony \Yl-rcreof i a llix my signature.
ALFRED ESPESETH.
