Description

Patented Feb. 16, 1926.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HARLEY C. WOOD, OF CHICOPEE FALLS, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSG-NOR TO THE FISK RUBBER COMPANY, OF CHICOPEE FALLS, IV'ASSACHUSETTS, A CORPORATION 0F MASSACHUSETTS.
TRUCK.
Application filed May 15, 1925. Serial No. 30,431.
f the invention is the provision of a truck which may carry a maximum amount of the piled strip material, covering substantially its entire plane area, and yet which may at the same time carry a supply of lining material always located in a convenient position for handling.
teferring to the drawings,
Fig. l is a perspective of an unloaded truck;
Fig. 2 is a plan'of-a loaded truck; and Fig. f is an end elevation of a loaded truck.
a the illustrated form uprights 1l connected by a channel iron 15. The two channel f\ i l5 are preferably braced by a strip 'lo I; down to meet the 'platform 1l at its middle, thus performing the two functions of adding rigidityto the end frames and of dividing the truck longitudinally into twohalves. Running upon flanged rollers l? n on the channel irons 15 a movable p3.. form 13, made long enough so that its end.. ill strike the uprights 1l and limit its possible range of movement.
ln the use of the truck a-pile of .sheets of lining material 19 is kept on the movable platform 18, which is rolled to one side 0f the truck as shown in Fig. As the sheets 2O of rubberized material are received, they are placed in a pile upon the lower platform 11 at the opposite side of the truck from where the platform 13 is located, sheets of liner material being` taken from the pile on the movable platform and interleaved with the rubberized stock to prevent adhesion of the latter. When the pile on the lower platform has been built up to the desired heiujht, which will be less than the height of platform 18, the movable platform is rolled over it, exposing the second side of the main platform for further piling operations. In unpiling the material a reverse operation is followed, the sheets of separating` material being` taken olf the pile on the lower platform and piled on the movable platform, while the sheets of rubberized material are removed from the truck.
laving thus described my invention, I claim:
l. A truck having a main platform, presenting` a surface for piling material, a super-structure including a transverse track, and a platform substantially half the width of the main platform and mounted for lateral movement on said track from one side 'to the other of the truck, said movable platform also presenting a piling surface.
2. A truck having' a main platform, a super-structure including a transverse track, a platform substantially half the width of the main platform and mounted for lateral movement on said track from one side to the other of the truck, and a longitudinal partition dividingy the main platform into two halves.
2. A truck having a main platform, a pair of uprights secured to each end of the platform, each pair bearing a transverse member adapted to serve as a track, a bracing member extending,` downwardly 'from one track to the center of the main platform and thence to the other track, thereby bracing the tracks and also dividing the main platform longitudinally into two halves, and a movable platform mounted on rollers on .said tracks and extending between said uprights so as to have a restricted lateral movement across the truck.
