Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a captioned tire against shoulder-inclined abrasion without injuring its wet characteristic by providing wide grooves on the half of a tread with and narrow grooves on the remained half as keeping widths of the both grooves respectively in fixed ratios to the tread width and mounting the tire as keeping the side of wide grooves on the inside of a car. CONSTITUTION:Two side grooves 11 and 12 are arranged zigzag on a tread half part T1 of a tread T to be positioned inside for mounting a tire to a car. Meanwhile, two narrow grooves 21 and 22 are arranged zigzag on another tread half part T2 to be positioned outside. Widths of the wide grooves 11 and 12 are selected to be 4-8% of the tread width W, while widths of the narrow grooves 21 and 22 to be within the range of 0.5-2% of the tread width W. This construction permits to prevent the tire against shoulder-inclined abrasion since walls of wide grooves 11 and 12 are kept separated from each other during the rolling of the tire with load for maintaining the wet characteristic favorably and walls of narrow grooves 21 and 22 are closed to be in touch with each other for increasing rigidity.
