7 u. 8.0m. Tbo'is for Finishing the Interior of Faucets.
Patented Nov. 24,1874.
TNE GRAPHIC OD PHDIO'LITHj98x4-l PARK PLACE,N.Y.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY SOFFE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN TOOLS FOR FINISHING THE INTERIOR OF FAUCETS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 157,139, dated November 24, 1874 application filed August 1,1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY SOFFE, of the city and State of New York, have invented an Improvement in Finishing-Tools for Self Closing Faucets, of which the following is a specification:
- The present invention relates to means for making the faucet patented by me March 10, 1874.
In my faucet the spring-valve projections and lifting inclines within the barrel are employed, as in the aforesaid patent.
My present invention relates to a peculiar tool employed in finishing off the inclines.
In the drawing, Figure l is a vertical section of the faucet complete. Fig. 2 represents the tool employed in fiuishin g the inclines; and Fig. 3 is an end view of this finishing-tool.
The faucet is made with the body a, bib 1), inlet-pipe 0, seat (I, screw-cap e, spindle f, handle g, valve h, and compression-spring k, as in aforesaid patent, except that the end of the stem is cup-shaped, forming a hollow cylinder, and into this the compressed cork i is forced.
In order to finish off the surface of the inclines, I make use of a cylindrical tool, 8, of a diameter to fit the interior of the body of the faucet, and the end thereof is made as a Wedge, (see Fig. 3,) and upon the surfaces of the Wedge-shaped end there are files cut, that serve to file off the surfaces of the inclines as the tool is partially rotated first one way and then the other, and moved endwise in passing up and down such inclines, to smooth their HENRY SOFFE.
