It is also preferred that finishing strips 27 be mounted on the opposite faces of the door along the lines of junction or abutment of the frame members 10 to 13 inclusive and the panels 17 and 18.

Hinged to the frame member 10 at the lower end portion of the separate compart ments 20 to 22 inclusive are closure plates 28 which are countersunk in the outer edge of the frame member 10 as clearly seen in Figs. 5 and 6 of the drawing and said plates are of slightly greater width than the corresponding dimensions of said chambers and are mounted on a spring 29 which operates to normally hold the plates 28 in a closed position and said plates serve to prevent the accidental displacement of the boards or other articles 24, 25 and 26. The frame member 10 or the outer edge thereof is also preferably recessed 'as shown at 30 centrally of the separate chambers or compartments 20 to 22 inclusive to facilitate the grasping of the members 2 1, 25 and 26 in removing the same from said compartment.

The panel 18 is also cut away or subdivided to form a comparatively large and rectangular recess 31 on one side face of the door in which a table member 32 is adapted to be mounted, said table member being hinged to the door as shown at 33 and being also coupled with the door through a. link lever construction 34 which supports the table in extended and horizontal position, and this table may be used for supporting the boards or other articles thereon or for supporting china or the like, especially in pantries and kitchens where additional table space is required. It will be understood that the table member 32 is contained in the recess or compartment 31 and constitutes a part of the paneling 18 of the door, and will not when in closed and inoperative position, affect the use of the door in any way.

The boards or other articles 23 to26 inclusive are preferably such articles as commonly employed in the home, for example as bread boards, vegetable boards, meat boards and the like, and the purpose of my invention is to provide convenient or accessible means for storing articles of this classor articles of anyother kind or class, and yet have the same always at hand and ready for use, and also in the provision of the table member 32 which may be conveniently used for many purposes, and in this way, additional utility is provided for a door which may control the admission to a room or compartment or constitute a part of may be made within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit of my invention or sacrificing its ad vantages.

Having fully described my invention,

what I claim as new and d-esireto secure by Letters Patent, is

'1. A door of the class described fashioned from two vertical rails joined by top and bottom horizontal rails, said rails being of substantially the same thickness throughout, frame members mounted in connection with and extending from one vertical rail to the other in spaced relation, said frame members being of less thickness than said rails to form recesses on the opposite side faces of the door, and panels mounted in said recesses and secured to said rails and frame members to form a door having spaced compartments therein, said compartments being formed between the rails, frame members and panels.

2. A door of the class described fashioned from two vertical rails joined by top and bottom horizontal rails, sai-d rails being of substantially the same thickness throughout, frame members mounted in connection with andextending from one vertical rail to the other in spaced relation, said frame mem bers being of less thickness than said rails to form recesses on the opposite side faces of the door, panels mounted in said recesses and secured to said rails and frame members to form a door having spaced compartments therein, said compartments being formed between the rails, frame members and panels, and one of the vertical rails being apertured to register with the several compartments in the door whereby predetermined articles may be placed in said compartments.

3. A door of the class described fashioned from two vertical rails joined by top and bottom horizontal rails, said rails being of substantially the same thickness throughout,

frame members mounted in connection'with therein, said compartments being formed be tween the rails, frame members and panels, and one of the vertical rails being apertured to register with the several oompartments in the door whereby predeterminedarticles may be placed in said compartments, and the several compartments in theedoor being of different Vertical dimensions and 7 adapted to receiveboard and rodmembers of different dimensions.
