Ties that have this part exposed around the collar, as with standing collars, do not have this part wrinkled in ,use Thus, my device may be of moderate length, easily packed away, and not unwieldy, as are pressers made to take in the entire tie.
By having the channel curved, and the pressing plate straight when open, it is not necessary for the plate to be of highly resilient material, as where the plate is curved when open and the pressure is obtained by straightening the plate. This makes it possible to avoid the use of spring steel; and the device may readily be made chiefly of aluminum, the plate as well as the channel being of this metal, and therefore the device may be very light aswell as small and compact. Tith any material, its smallness, as well as its simplicity makes it very economical to manufacture. Y
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: f
l. In a necktie presser, a curved channeled body, the channel opening radially outward of the curvature, and a flexible pressing plate hinged between the sides of the channel near one end and adapted to be bent around said curvature to the opposite end.
2. In a necltie presser, a curved channeled body, the channel opening radially outward of the curvature, a flexible pressing plate hinged between the sides of the channel near one end and adapted to be bent around said curvature to the opposite end, where said plate has a forwardly convex end part, and a fastener hinged in the sides of the channel near said opposite end and having a transverse part adapted to be swung in front of said convex part of the plate and held inwardly of said opposite end from the most prominent part of said plate convex part, whereby the resilience of the plate retains the fastener in position to hold the plate bent around said channel as aforesaid.
3. A necltie presser comprising two members hinged together near one end, one of the members being rigid and curved, and the other member being flexible and substan tially straight when the members are swung apart, and bent firmly around thecurvature of the rigid member to hold a necktie against the rigid member.
4. A necktie presser comprising a channeled curved rigid member, and a flexible member hinged to the first member near one end thereof, to be bent around the curvature within the channel of said first member, and fastening means on said first member near its opposite end, engageable with the adjacent end of the second member when bent as aforesaid, the second member having retentive part engaged by the fastener and being suiiiciently resilient to retain said fastener while the fastener retains ,saidr second member in its bent condition.
