DISPLAY CONTAINER non SEPARAIBLE nnvrcns,
Application filed. January 18,.1923. SeriallSIo. 613,348;
drawing, forn'iing a part of this specifica-' tion.
This invention relates to display containers for separable devices.
The invention'has among its objects to provide an improved display container for separable devices which is of simple and inexpensive construction and which serves to securely restrain the devices therewithinagainst removal and to expose relatively large portions thereof for display.
Another object is to provide a container of the aforesaid character adapted to beconstructed of relatively light I cardboard or other sheet material.
Another object is to provide a container of the aforesaid character adapted to receive a plurality of articles and to hold parts associated with each of the articles against separation therefrom.-
Various other objects and advantages of the invention will hereinafter appear.
The accompanying drawing illustrates an embodiment of the invention which will now be described, it being understood that the embodiment illustrated is susceptible of modification without departing from the scope of the appended claims. In the drawing, I
Fig. 1 is a-perspective viewof a container embodying the invention;
Fig. 2 is a side elevational View of the articles which the container shown in Fig. 1 is designed to receive;
Fig. 3 is a front elevationalview of the container with the articles therein; and FFig. 4 is a sectional view on line 4-4 of The container shown inFig. 1 is of the folio type and includes leaves 1 and 2 for receiving a plurality of separable devices therebetween. Each of the leaves of the folio is perforated to receive portions of the devices for display thereof, the perforations being shaped to suit the contour of the devices. More specifically, the container illus trated, is designed for receiving knobs 3 and,
4, shown in Fig. 2, such knobs being of the character disclosed in my copending .appli cation, Serial No. 555,705,.filed April 20, 1922. Knob 3 is of larger dimensions than knob 41 and each of said knobs is provided witha central recess for receiving an attaching riveto. In marketing such knobs it is desirable to maintam the same and their at taching rivets against separation and for this purpose each of the leaves 1 and ,2 of
the folio is provided with spaced openings 6 and,7, theopenings of leaf l beingarranged to register with the openings of leaf 2. The
openings 6 and 7 are of substantially the same contour as the knobs 3 and 1 respectively, and as shown in Fig. 3 the cross sectional area of said openings is slightly less than the cross sectional area of knobs 3 and 1 respectively. Openings Grand 7 are arranged to receive knobs 3 and 4; in aninverted relation and the space between said openings is less than the length of either of.
rivets 5. It isthus apparent that when the knobs 3 and 4 and their associated rivets are held between 'the leaves 1 and 2 of the folio as shown in Fig. 3, said knobs will be securely held withinthe folio in a relation -Leaves land 2 of the folio can be secured together by any suitable means, such' as wire clips 8. Asshown-in Figs. 3 and 4 the clips are arranged on opposite sidesof the. knobs and above and below the same, and
through the leavesof thecontainer and haveach comprises ,a U -shaped wire inserted ing itsrextremities .bent inwardly. to secure.
the same.
It is apparent that the container illustrated need not necessarily be of folio form and that the same can be designed for re ceiving any desired number of articles.
Further it is apparent that the same can be devices each consisting of loosely interfitted Y and separable parts, which comprises a pair ofperforated sheets to receive therebetween a number of said devices and to permit apart of each device to project therethrough for display and support thereof, said sheets having their perforations so arranged that the several devices positioned therein cooperate to restrain their respective unsupported parts against displacement from the container.
2. A display container for separable devices each having aremovable part fitted thereinto, comprising a pair of sheets for receiving a plurality of said devices therebetwcen each of said sheets being provided with o ienings for receiving portions of such devices, for display thereof, in a relation to restrain said devices and their removable parts against removal from said container.
3. A display container for a plurality of articles each having a separable part fitted thereinto, comprising a pair of leaves for receiving said articles therebetween with the separable parts in opposite relation, said leaves being provided with spaced openings to receive portions of said articles for display thereof in such relation, the portions of said leavesbetween said openings serving to restrain said separable parts against removal from said container.
4. A display container for a plurality of articles each having an associated separable part loosely inserted in a recess therein, comprising a pair of sheets for receiving the temporarily assembled articles therebetween, said sheets being perforated to receive portions of said articles for display thereof in a relation whereby said separable parts mutually restrain each other against removal from said container, and means for clamping said sheets about said articles.
A display container for a plurality of knobs each having an associated rivet loosely inserted in a recess therein, comprising a pair of sheets for receiving said knobs and associated rivets therebetween, said sheets having openings therein for displaying portions of said knobs and for holding the same in opposed relation to each other to prevent removal of said rivets from the recesses therein.
61A display container for a plurality of knobs each having an associated rivet loosely inserted in a recess therein, comprising a folded sheet for receiving said knobs between the folds thereof, said folds having pairs of registering openings therein for displaying opposite sides of the respective knobs and for holding the same in a relationto prevent removal of said rivets from the recesses therein, the portions of said folds between said openings being adapted to engage said rivets on opposite sides to support the same Within said container, and means for holding said sheet in folded position.
7. A display container fora plurality of knobs or the like each having the shank of a headed member loosely inserted in a recess therein, comprising sheets of cardboard or the like for receiving said knobs therebetween with the heads of said members in abutting relation, said sheets having open-' mp1s therein for displaying said knobs and arranged to hold the same in the aforementioned relation to prevent removal of said .members from the recesses in said knobs.
8. A display container for aplurality of knobs or the like each having a headed rivet loosely inserted in a recess therein, co1n-' prising a folded sheet of relatively stiff material for receiving said knobs therebetween With the heads of said rivets in abutting relation, said sheet having openings with a contour similar to but smaller than the means requiring destruction of said con trainer to permit removal of the contained articles. y
In witness whereof, I have hereuntosubscribed my name.
