H. E. PLACK TOY GOLF GAME Filed Oct. 29, 1925 patented Jan. 12, 19.26.
NETD TTES HENRY n. PLACK, or rowson, MARYLAND.
TOY GOLF GAME.
Application filed October 29, 1925. Serial No. 65,562.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY E. PLACK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Towson, in the county of Baltimore and State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Golf Games, of'which the following is a specification. p
This invention relates to games and has special reference to a toy golf game.
One object of the invention is to improve I the general construction of devices'of this character.
A second object of the invention is to provide a novel toy golf game having a small figure or representation of a golf player actuated byimproved means.
A third object of the invention is to pro-, vide an improved rotatable mounting for the toy figure used therewith.
With the above and other objects in view as will be hereinafter apparent, the invention consists in general of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically claimed. I
In the accompanying drawings like characters of reference indicate like parts in the several views, and:
Figure 1 is atop plan of the game.
fFigure 2-is a partial bottom plan there- 0 Figure 3 is an enlarged detail section on the line 33 of Figure 2.
In the present illustration of the invention there is provided a board or platform 10 preferably having its corners rounded although this' is not essential. This board is surrounded by an upstanding rim 11 and is mounted on a frame12, the rim' also projecting downwardly below the level of theboard as at 13 and enclosing the frame.
Near one corner of the board 10 there is provided a circular opening 1 1 in which fits a disk 15 having a hub 16. Through this disk and hub extends a shaft 17 havstick 21 so arranged as to sweep over an arcuate path on the surface of the board 10. On the underside of the disk 15 there is provided an eye 22 which is connected by a tension spring 23 with an eye 24: fixed in one of the frame members, 12. This ar rangement serves to yieldably position the image 19. A third eye 25 fixed to the underside of the disk 15 has a pull cord 26' attached thereto, this pull cord' running through a suitable opening in the rim 13 and having a pull ring 26 attached to its free end.
Disposed. at the opposite end of the board 10 are a series of pockets 27 having value indicia 28 and number indicia 29 stamped or otherwise indicated on the board adjacent thereto.
A playing ball 30 is also provided for the'ganre.
In playing the game .one of the players places the 'ball 30 in such position adjacent the ring 26, Then he suddenly releases the ring. This causes the toy golf stick to sweep over its path and project the ball in the direction of the pockets. If the ball stops in any pocket the player scores the value or number of that pocket. This may be repeated as many times as may be agreed between the players. Then the next player does the same. After the same number of shots have been made by each player the count is made up in accordance with the values, as shown on the board, of the pocketed balls and the player having the highest count wins the game.
It will be seen that this is highly a game of skill since the success of the winning player depends on the factors of correctly positioning the ball and of correctly adjusting the pull onthe ring 26.
There has thus been provided a simple and eflicient device of the kind described and for the purpose specified.
It is obvious that minor changes may be made in the form and construction of the invention without departing from the material spirit thereof. It is not, therefore, desired to confine the invention to the exact form herein shown and described, but it is desired to include all such as properly come within the scope claimed.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is:
the image, as he may desire, first pulling on Y In combination a playing field comprising a flat board having a series of pockets at one end and a circular opening adjacent the opposite end, a disk mounted in said circular opening flush with said playing to rotate said disk in one direction, and field, said field having an upstanding rim manually controlled means to rotate the 10 around its periphery, a figure mounted on disk against the action of said spring and said diskconcentrically thereof, a ball proreleasable to permit the spring to actuate pelling implement carried by said figure the disk.
and positioned to sweep over an arc on said In testimony whereof I afiix my signature. field in contact with the field to engage a ball positioned on the arc, a spring tending HENRY E. PLAGK.
