LIP s'rnx HOLDER Filed Sept. 6. 1924 Patented im. s,v isize,`
UNITED u STATES ARTHUR H; NOBLE, or raw'rnciza'r, RHODE ISLAND, AssmNoa 'ro THEoDoaE w.
PATENT oFFici-z.
LIP-STICK HoLDEa.
Application led September 6, 1924. Serial `No. 736,227. l
To all wiz-om it may eminem.; l
Beit known that I, ARTHUR H. NOBLE, a' citizen of the United States, residing at Pawtucket, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented new 'and useful Im rovements in Lip-Stick Holders, of fwhic the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain -new and useful im rovements in lip stick holders, and the primary object of the invention is to provide a` lip stick holder which has improved means forregularly feeding the lip stick as desired orv found necessary.
A further object of the invention is to provide feeding means which is positive and reliable in operation and which can be easily operated in addition to being devoid of parts'likely .to 'become out of order or deranged.
A still further object of the invention is toA provide a holder of light weight, and also ,feeding -me-ans of simple and economical construction, wherein the parts may be easily and quickly assembled.
` The invention has still further andV other objects which will belater set forth and manifested in the course of the following description.
In the drawings :--,v v Figure 1 is a central longitudinal. sectional view of the invention.
F' re 2 is a side elevation of the liner in detac ed position.
Figure 3 is a like view of the holder for the lip stick.
Figure 4 is a section on line 4--4 of Fig- ,ure 1, and v Figure 5 is a section on line 5-5 of Fig.1.
In proceeding in accordance with the present invention a tubular casing 1 is employed on the interior of which a liner 2 of sleeve form is disposed, the latter projecting at. `its ends beyond the respective vends of tlie'casing 1. A removable closure or cap 3 engages over the outer .end of the casing. The inner end rtion of the liner is formed with o posed ribs 4 that are formed by striking the metal inwardly,.while a centrally perforated .disk 5 is secured to the bottom of Ythe liner by spinning the metal of the latter over Vthe disk periphery.
The lip stick carrier embodies a .cup16 having inwardly struck teeth 7 to grip the ollow longitudinal keys or.
lip stick and a pair of depending legs 8'secured at their upper ends, for example by heading or riveting to the cup bottom. The lower ends of the legs above the bottom 9 have U-shaped guides that slidably receive the ribs or keys 4.
An'operating-cap 11 en ages over the inner end of the liner 2 and as the stein 12 of a screw 14 riveted thereto at 13 whereby rotation of the cap effects vrotation of the screw. The screw is engaged with the threads of an aperture provided therefor in the bottom 9 of the carrier while the shank 12 loosely engages in the opening of disk 5 'and is guided thereby.
From the foregoing it will be seen that rotation of thev cap 11 will rotate; the screw and the latter in turn will effect sliding of the carrier composed of the parts 6--10 causing the lip vstick to be progresw sively fed outwardly of the liner, the guides and the keys 4; preventing rotation of the carrier and confining its movement to a sliding'one. y
he strikingout of the keys or ribs 4 contributes tothe light weight of the device"l valso trueof the open or skeleton form of carrier 6-410. L Havingthus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is Y 1. In a lip stick holder, a tubular casing, a liner sleeve on the interior of the casing having its ends projecting Vbeyond the re spectiveV casing ends, said liner having opposed longitudinal inwardly-struck keys, a
lipstick carrier including a cup, legs secured to vand 'depending from the cup, a bottom' connecting the legs and havin threaded aperture, U-'guides connecte the legs arid receivin the keys,fa rotatable cap on one end of t e liner, a perforated disk carried by said end of the liner, and a screw having a shank rigidly connected to said cap and extending' through said disk perforation and thi'eadedthroi'iglh said aperturev of the bottom of the h'ol er.
2. In a lip stick holder, a tubular casing, a liner sleevey on the interior of the casing having" o posed longitudinal keys and a perforate bottom, a lip stick carrier having a lip-stick end receiving part, de nding legs connected to said part", .U-gui es on lthe legs receiving the keys, a connecting part for the legs having a tlueaded aperture, u screw, :1nd means to rotate the screw, the screw bemg loosely and guldmgly engaged through the perforated bottom of the liner and being threaded through said aperture of the connecting part of the legs.
3. In a lip stick holder, a casing, a tubular member therein having opposite longitudinal keys,' a lip stick carrier having depending legs provided with parts which conformably. and slidably engage the keys, a member having a threaded 'opening connecting the legs, a perforated member rigidly connected to the lower end of the tubular member, a screw loosely and guidingly engaged through the perforation of the rigid member and threaded through the opening of the connecting member of the legs, and means to rotate the screw engaged over the rigid member and with the casing.
In testimony whereof I have signed my 20 name to this specification.
ARTHUR H. NOBLE.
