To all whom it may OOfiOW/LS Be it known that I, ALLAN O. Cam en'rsn, 'a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Corning, in the county of Steuben and State of New York, have invented a certain Vertical Con: :rcssor, of which the following is a specification, accompanied by drawlugs.
This invention relates to vertical compressors, pumps and the like, but more particularly to the cylinder construction of multistage compressors.
The objects of the invention are -to en able the cylinders to be constructed in compact block form in order to produce a strong and durable unitary construction, occupying' the minimum of space, and especially adapted for small units, which may be applied to portahlo compressor outfits.

In assembling the parts the high pressure cylinder R is adapted to be located over the guide cylinder E and the cross head- L is provided with the iston S for the high pressure cylinder R. '1 1e air head Q is preferably formed with the shouldered sent '1 adapted to be seated in the end of the guide cylinder E to center the parts with relation to each other. The high ressure cylinder R is provided with the air cad U havin the intake and discharge valves V and W o an suitable form. The low pressure cylinder 1) is provided with the intake and discharge valves X and Y of unv suitable form.
Air enters at the inlet allnough the low I pressure cylinder D and is discharged at the discharge outlet 6 of the high pressure cylinder R,
A discharge passage 0 connects the dis charge outlet d of the low pressurecylinder D with the intake 0 of the high pressure cylinder E. The air cylinder head Q as shown is preferably open at the top' at f and forms a water tank and a water jacket 9 is thus pro vided for the high pressure cylinder and the parts contained in the said air cylinder head Q. Means are provided for connecting the water jacket g; and the water jacket and for this urpose apertures h and may he provided in the air head guide cylinder casing so that continuous circulation of jacketed water may be obtained.
