J'UMPING-FIGUBE TOY.
Application filed June 2, 1925. Serial n. 3445's.
' To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL A. Dmnnmcns, a citizen of the United States, residing at East Liberty, Pittsbur h, in the county of Allegheny and State Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useiul J umping-Figure Toy, of which the following is a specification.
The object of my invention is to provide a novel and interesting game for children and to provide novel operating mechanism. I attain the objects of my invention by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- I Figure 1 is a perspective View of my invention;
Fig. 2 is a transverse section through same; t
Fig. 3 is a top plan view with the top 2 removed and a 1 portion of the plate broken away; and
Fig. 4 is a longitudinal sectional view. Like characters designate like parts in each of the several views.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, I provide a suitable box or case 1 having a top 2 provided with apertures 3 in which are slidably mounted posts 13 supporting manikins or dolls 14. The posts 13 are supported on plates 10 and 10. Plate 10 is mounted on the revoluble plates '4; and plate 10 is mounted on the revoluble plates 5. Plates 4 and 5 are revolubly mounted on the rods or axles 6 which are mounted in the side walls of the box 1, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. I provide gears 7 on each of the axles 6 in mesh with each other, as shown in Fig. 4. One of the rods or axles 6 is provided with an extension 8 passing through the wall of the" box 1 and carrying on its outer end the removable crank 9. I provide a separating strip 11 extending transversely of the box 1 through its central portion and I also pro.-
vide supporting strips 12 at opposite ends of the box 1, as shown in Fig. 4 to limit the movement of the plates 10 and 10. I may plates 4 will" be horizontal, and vice versa. When the plates 5 carried by rods 6 are revolved to a vertical position-the plate 10 is raised, this in turn raising the posts 13 and the manikins 14, as shown in Fig. 4. Posts 13 and manikins 14 carried by the plate 10 will at the same time be in lowered position. Thus the manikins at opposite ends of the toy are alternately raised and lowered. The supporting strips 12 and separating strips 11 prevent the plates 10 and 10' from moving away from their respective compartments. As the posts 13 are slidably mounted in the apertures 3 children may change the posts and manikin figures to diiferent portions of the top to suit their fancy.
he removable feature as regards posts 13 and manikins 14 also facilitates packing the toy for transportation. The crank 9 also is removable from rod 8 to facilitate packing the toy for transportation.
What I claim 1s:
1. In a toy, the combination of a box having apertures through its top, a series of rods extending transversely thereof and rotatably mounted in its side walls, gears mounted on each of the rods, said gears be ing in mesh with each other, means for ac: tuating one of the rods, plates aflixed to each of the rods and revolving therewith,
2. In a toy of the class described, the combination of a box having a top provided with apertures, posts slidably and removably mounted in the apertures, manikins mounted on the osts, vertically movable plates within the ox on which the posts are mounted, -a transverse strip extending through the upper central portion of the box, supporting strips attached to each end of the box to limit the movement of the vertically movable plates, revoluble plates on which the vertically movable plates are mounted, rods on which the revoluble plates are mounted, said rods being mounted in the side walls of the box, gears on each of the rods, said gears meshing with each other, the set of revoluble plates supporting one. of the movable plates being always disposed in a vertical position when the other set of revoluble plates are in a horizontal posi- 1 mounted,
through the upper central portion of the tionand vice versa, an extension on one of the rods, and an operating crank mounted on said extension.
3. In a toy of the class described, the com- 5 bination of a box having a top provided box, supporting strips attached to each end of the box to limit the movement of the vertically movable plates, revoluble plates on which the movable plates are mounted,
rods on which the .r-evoluble plates are mounted, said rods being mounted in the side Walls of the box, gears on each of the rods, said gears meshing with each other,-
the set of revoluble plates supporting one of the movable plates being always disposed in a vertical position when the movable plates supporting the other removable plates are in a horizontal position and vice versa, and means for actuating the device.
