Be it known that l, WncLIAM C. HOMAN.,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Meriden, in the county of New Haven, in the State of Connecticut, have invented `an Improvement in OiLStove Burners, oi which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a burner particu larly adapted for use in oil stoves and similar heat generators. In devices of this type as ordinarily constructedthere is included a Wick tube, means for raising and lowering a wick Within the Wick tube, and an air distributor removably associated with the Wick tube. It has also been more or less custom# .ary in burners of the type to Which my in-y vention relates to employ locking devices for maintaining the air distributor in position in its associated relationship with the Wick tube, -so' that by unlocking the seid devices i the air distributor may be separated and removedfroni the burner tube. However, so far as l am aware all these locking devices which have been heretofore employed have been more or lcs-s complicated, and have -also made it extremely dilicult to gain Suliiciently ready access to the interior of the burner when the' air distributorxis removed to adequately clean tire y interior of the burner; Y 1
The object ol my invention is t0 overcome these difficulties, and in doingV so the invention relates more particularly to devices for normally maintaining the air distributor; in position, thereby making it impossible to :raise the Wiclrhigher than a predetermined point, because of the spreader `forming part of the air distributor being xed in positionv with the air distributor, and making the inlterior parts of the burner easily accessible for cleaning purposes when the a'ir distributor is removed. Consequently, in carrying out the invention employ a plurality of latch devices preferablyl gravity actuated, and adapted to engage a projection provided for this purpose interiorly of theburner, in order to normally maintain the air distributor in position in association with the other parts of the burner, as will' be hereinafter more articularly described.

As illustrated, the other burner tube 1d, is provided with a rib lt., aesoei'flfed with' which are arms l5, 'for supporting" a coller 16; adjacent its lower periphery the cellar 16 is provided with a shoulder .17, upon which the bam ot' the casing or body member 18 ot the stove rests and is supported.
The burner also includes a suitable air dien tributor as illustrated. This ceinprises drum 19, which 'is preferably cylindrical, provided with suitably placed apertures 2%, tor the circulation or" air, and. is made et any suitable material. IThis drum i9, is what may be called the outer drum et theair distributor. At its upper end. this outer drum terminates iny an angular tiange '251, terminating in rit-depending rim 22, adapted, to fit Within the inner burner tube i1, at the upper end thereof. 'llhe air distributor also includes a bottom or base 23, provided. 'with suitable apertures 2l, and having a centrally disposed `flange 9.5, Within which. the lower .end of aninner drum 9.6, is received and suitably secured. This .inner drum 26, is al so preferably cylindrical', and is provided @55 with a-plural-ity of suitably spaced apertures 27. As illustrated, the inner drum 26, is open at both the top and the bottom thereof, and the drum is suiiciently long to entend appreciably above the top of the burner when the air distributor is in` osition thereon.
