` *Be it known that I, JAMES C. DALEY, a citizen of the United States, `residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State et lllinois, have invented a certain new Vrelatively small, bell ringing type, it is de` sirable'to use a. container of porcelain or other suitable insulating materiahl To permit mounting, the device as desired, ,these containers have usually been provided with integralimounting lugs. `VThese are, however, Aquickly. fractured or broken ott in drawing Vup the screws or other fastening means. 1Where lugs of this sort are broken cti, proper mounting or the device has been impossible tand' it' haslbe'en necessary to discard or scrap the entire container. These mounting lugs have also been susceptible to breaking or fracture in shipping, transporting and handling the containers because of their frangible character and their projection from the container.
The object of my invention is the provision of a generally improved, simple and inexpensive mounting` which will overcome the 'foregoing diticulties.

The container is shown as having generally parallel side walls 6, 6 and generally parallel top aand bottom walls 7 and 8 closed at the front by a iront wall 9 and open at the back at 10. It is preferably made of porcelain orother'suitable insulating material. The transformer coils `(not shown) are usually sealediin the case or container 5 by means of a `suitable sealingsubstance 12. The primary leads or conductors which lead in to the yprimary coil are indicated at 14;" and they' extend in through suitable fopenings 15 in `the "bot-j tom wall The secondary terminalsare indicated at 16 fand'they lead out through openings 17 in the top wall 7.` y

`Alongthe opposite vertical edges ofthe intermediate portion of the back 2() integral flanges 26 are turned out at substantially right angles to the back and these project into the container 5 when the back is mounted thereon and just it between the sides 6, 6 to properly position the back transversely upon the container. The container 5 is confined vertically between a pair of integral ears 28 and 30 stuck out from the back at the top and bottom of the container and projecting out at substantially right angles to receive the container between them.
These ears 28 and 30 properly position the back and container vertically relative each other and it is through them that the back is .secured to the container. The inner surfaces of the upper and lower container walls 7 and 8 have central grooves 32 extending from front to back and screws 34 having heads engaging in and held againstturning by the sides ot these grooves extend out through the top `and bottom walls 7 and 8. These screws 34 are held axially in place by the sealingcompound or substance 12. One of the ears 28, 3() is apertured at 35 andthe other is slotted at 36 and the screws 34 extend through the aperture and slot in these ears and engage in nuts 38 which bind the mounting back firmly in place. By aperturing one ear and slotting the other, the apertured ear may be inserted over its fastening screw and the other ear may be sprung zover the opposite wall of the container and into place over its fastening screw. i
The mounting which I have provided is simplelandfinexpensive and it permits of theleln lo'yment of la porcelain or other r-ngibe container with itsv advantages, Withnut theproblein offracturing or breakngoff theinounting lugs, in transporation, handling er mounting of the device. In combination, av frangible container having threaded studs held against turning and projecting from opposite walls thereof, a sheet metal back aving offset ends for attachment to a support, said back having out-turned marginal flanges at its opposite side adapted to enter the container and to fit between the opposite side walls thereof, ont-turned lugs adjacent the osetting of .the opposite ends ofthe back and fastening means projecting from opposite walls of the -container and through said lugs.

In combination, a frangible container open at its rear, a sheet metal back of substantially the width of the rear opening of the container and having marginal flanges entering the container and projecting lugs for receiving the container between them, said back having offset projecting flanges for attachment to a support and means for securing the container between said lugs.
