To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that ALBERT R. HAAG, a citizen of the United States ot America, resid ing at Peoria, in the county `ot Peoria and State of Illinois, has invented certain 'new and useful Improvements in Vringers, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to wringers.
The invention has reference to quick release mechanism applied to a wringer for thepurpose of protecting the user as well as vprotecting clothing being wrung through it.
The invention also includes a special relationing of a tension spring member for the upper wringer roll in connection with the framing whereby said spring member is constantly held in a degree of tension as distinguished from a complete release and substantial detachment as is common in most wringer structures under conditions of the operation of quick release mechanism.
l The invention also includes a special relationing of a top framing member with the main frame whereby a hinged relation is established to the end that the top member may be free to move under conditions of the operation of the quick release device and in such movement carrying with it a roller tensioning spring thereby releasing the latter from pressure. Such hinged relationship as between the top member and the bottom of the frame also facilitates ready removal of the wringer release as well as convenient assembly.
The invention also includes the matter of relative arrangement and support as between a bar spring tensioning member, the top framing member and spacing members intervening between the spring and wringer roll to establish a maximum of screw pressure force applied to the spring member notwithstanding the degree of deflection of the spring bar under the flexing force thereby automatically limiting the tension force applied to the upper wringer roll.
The invention also includes detailed structural parts and combination of parts as hereinafter more particularly indicated.

Fig. 1 is a side elevation showing a support and wringer associated therewith, the latter embodying features of the invention.
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the same subject matter disclosed in Fig. 1.

In referring to the drawings special reference will not be made to driving or supporting mechanism for the wringer as such features constituteno part of the present invention.
Referring to the drawings a framing member is shown comprising end members 10 and bottom member 11. This frame may be fashioned in one piece or may be made up of sections as herein disclosed and sections may be connected in the manner illustrated in the drawings. This main framing member is designed to house and support the working mechanism of the wringer.
Referring to the working mechanism of the wringer 12 is a lower wringer roll, its spindles having support in trunnion blocks 13, said trunnion blocks being fashioned for open seating of the spindles as shown, said blocks being in turn supported within the clearance way between the flange members of end framing members 10 and may together with the wringer roll, be readily disposed or removed from the frame by simple vertical li'lt except. that in case of the roll, it is required that it shall be slightly inclined to relieve it from its driving connection as shown at the right of Fig. 2. 14 is a top wringer roll, its spindles being supported in trunnion blocks 15, the latter being in turn supported in the clearance way between the flanges or end framing members 10 thereby adapting them for ready removal together with the wringer roll.

The bar 23 is ada ted to extend substantially the length o head member 16, its outer ends being supported upon cross pin members 26 fixed to the head member.
Normally a minimum degree of tension is adapted to be applied through screw 25 to this spring to hold it in contact with pin members 26 so that it is never in the position to become dislodged.
Trunnion blocks 15 supported in the main frame are supported only from the bearing yrelation between rolls 12 and 14 sothat it will appear that tension applied to said blocks will effect pressure relation as between the two rolls.' Blocks 15 are so proportioned ythat they project upwardlyv beyond the main frame to a point substantially coincident to a line corresponding to the upper edges of supporting pins 26 whereby under normal conditions no tensioningr action will be imparted to roll 14. However, spring 23 having been properly flexed under the action of screw member 25 to develop resisting force, clothing passed between rolls 12 and 14 will effect an upward projection of roll 14 against the resistance of bar spring23 transmitted through block members-15 to said spring. It will be noted here that through the tensioning arrangement here described, a minimum of spring tension against the rollers when the wringer is idle is secured, this being a very desirable result as it prevents the damaging of thewringer by" a careless person who might otherwise apply .anl unwarranted degree of pressure if the .stop pin members 26 were not applied.
.While I .have .shown hereinmy .preferred embodimentof" structure including a housing' ofa tensioning member'in aihinged head or-top framing member and the provision of stop members forlimiting tension action'of the spring, I comprehend that modifications over the form herein exemplified maybe had to obtain thev results here sought and therefore I do not wish to confine myself to the detailed combination or form of embodiment herein exemplified.
lVhat I claim is:
1. A Wringer having in combination, 'a main frame, a top frame member hinged to the main frame and swingable laterally thereof, a pair of compression rollers mounted in said main frame, vertically movable bearings for the upper of said rollers, means for applying tension to said upper roller, the said tension applying means including a spring bar mounted in the top frame member and having the ends thereof in line with the movable bearings ofthe upper roller, whereby upward movement of said bearings produced by separation of the rollersis resisted by said spring bar when the top frame member is in operative position, and means on the upper frame member for limiting the impinging action of the spring bar upon the movable bearings when the Vcompression rollers are in contact with each other.
2. A' wringer having in combination, a main frame, a top frame member hinged to the main frame and swingable laterally thereof, a pair of compression rollers mounted in 'said main frame, vertically movable bearings for the upper of said rollers, and means for applying tension to said upper roller, the said tension applying means including a spring bar mounted in the topframe member and having the ends thereof in line with the movable bearings of the upper roller, whereby upward movement of said bearings produced by separation of the rollersis resisted by said spring bar lwhen the top frame member is in o erative position, means on the upper fame member for limiting the impinging action of the spring bar upon the movable bearings when the compression rollers are in contact with each other, and means carried by the top frame member for placing the spring bar under initial tension.

A` Wringer having in combination, a main frame, a top frame member hinged to the main frame and swingable laterally thereof, means for interlocking the said frame members, means for releasing the interlocking means, said releasing means including a striker arm, a pair of compression rollers mounted in said main frame, vertically movable bearings for the upper of said rollers, and means for applying tension to said upper roller including a spring bar m'ounted upon the top frame member, means on said top frame member for holding the ends of said spring bar in a plane parallel to the top face of the movable bearings when the compression rollers are in contact With each other, the movable bearings being adapted to rise relative to the last mentioned means to increase the pressure of the spring arm upon the bearings when the rollers are separated by the introduction of work therebetween, and adjustable means for applying an initial tension to the spring bar.
