GARD-SAVING DEVICE FOR BOBBY LOOMS.
Application filed October 31, 19245.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, FRANTIEK. Venison, residing at Vrchlabi, Czechoslovakia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Card-Saving Devices for Debby Looms, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a card or lag saving device for the change-box motion of dobby looms and consists, in the combination with a. pattern cylinder, of a roller having a helical row of lugs arranged so as to enter successively into engagement with push bars which are selected and positioned by the cylinder and which, when actuated by the lugs, transmit their motion to the change box mechanism. Thus each card or lag will be able to control the weft supply for as many picks as there are lugs on the roller, and a corresponding number of cards will be saved.
Fig. 1 of the accompanying drawings rep resents a front view of the device, and
Fig. 2, a side view of the same.
In the construction shown in the drawings there are two lifting bars g which move the revolver or dropboX in opposite direc 'tions, each bar being operated by means of a frame 39. A plurality of push bars 0 are guided in slots in a plate cl and abut against the frames 2) for operating the lifting bars. Adjacent push bars belong to different frames. Each push bar has a lug through the medium of which it receives motion from one of a series of lugs 7" connected to a roller a. The push bars are normally supported so as to be out of reach of the lugs f and are raised into position of co-operation therewith by the pattern cylinder Z) whose lags c are for this purpose fitted with pegs g in known manner. Thus the push bars will be selected by the pattern cylinder for operation by the roller a. The lugs f are ar ranged about the roller a in a helical row so as to pass across the lugs of the push bar in regular succession. In the present instance each lug f is wide enough to span two push bars, one for each frame 19, so that either lifting bar 3 will be operated according to the selection made by the pattern cylinder.
Serial No. 747,069.
There is a ratchet wheel m on the shaft of the roller a, and a pawl 1" cooperates with this wheel for turning the roller intermittently. There are as many teeth on the ratchet wheel as there are lugs f on the roller, so that one lug passes across a pair of push bar lugs each time the roller is operated. A detent pawl n, evhich engages a ratchet wheel 2 on the roller shaft, prevents retrograde movement. Both pawls can be disengaged from their wheels by means of a lever s when a resetting of the roller is required. The roller shaft has also a tappet 7a which cooperates with a spur wheel it connected to the shaft of the cylinder 7) for turning the latter for bringing a fresh card or lag into operation after each complete revolution of the roller a.
The card or lag chain 6 may naturally be as long as desired. The number of lifting bars 3 may also be varied, the cards or lags e, the lugs f, and the grouping of the push bar's being modified to correspond.
The mechanism is mounted in a frame 15 and connected by means of the latter to the loom.
I claim:
1. In a card saving device for dobby looms, the combination with a pattern cylinder and a change-box mechanism, of a plurality of push bars arranged so as to be selected and positioned by said cylinder, a roller having a helical row of lugs arranged so as to operate selected push bars in succession when the roller is rotated, and means for transmitting the motion of said bars to the change-box mechanism.
2.111 a card saving device for dobbv looms, the combination with a pattern cylinder and a change-box mechanism, of a plurality of push bars arranged so as to be selected and positioned by said cylinder, a roller having a helical row of lugs arranged so as to operate selected push bars in succession when the roller is rotated, means for rotating said roller intermittently so as to bring the lugs successively into operation, and means for transmitting the movement of the push bars to the change boX mechanism.
3.111 a card saving device for dobby spur wheel connected to the cylinder shaft, a 10 tappet arranged on the roller shaft so as to cooperate with said spur wheel and move the cylinder once for each revolution of the roller, and means for transmitting the movement or the push bars to the change-box 15 mechanism FRANTISEK VOLEOI-I.
