Description

Nv. 24, 1925. l 1,563.08'8
` F. IPPOLIT GARMENT POCKET Filed Nov. 14. 1924 W1TNEsEsf JNVENTOR Patented Nov. 24, 1925.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GARMENT POCKET.
Application filed. November 14, 1924.
To all whom t may conce/m.'
Be it known that I, FRANK IrroLIrr, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have in vented certain new and useful Improvements in Garment Pockets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to garment pockets,
and more particularly to those known patch pockets.
The objects are to stitch the pocket sections so that the pocket will not have an objectionable raw edge therein, or an unsightly welt around the edge outside of the pocket.
These objects, and other advantageous ends which will be described hereinafter, I attain in the following manner, reference being had to the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a face view of a garment section having my improved pocket stitched thereto,
Figure 2 an enlarged section on line 2-2 ofV Figure l, and
Figure 3 an enlarged fragmentary section of the stitching shown in Figure 2.
Referring to the drawings, l indicates a -garment section, 2 a pocket section stitched from its inner side 3 to the garment section by stitching t adjacent the edge thus providing an inwardly turned flap as shown, and 5 a lining stitched from its outer side 36 6 to the inner side of said flap by stitching 8 thus forming an outwardly turned flap on said lining secured to the inwardly turned iiap on the pocket section. The side edges and bottom edges 9 of the pocket are stitched as above described. The upper Serial No. 749,835.
l open edge of the pocket may be sewed .in
the ordinary way. A flap ll may be sewcd to the garment section in any suitable manner.
A pocket stitched as above set forth docs not have the objectionable raw edges of the pocket section and lining therein, or an unsightly welt around the side and bottoni edges 9.
While I have described my invention as taking a particular form, it will be understood that the various parts may be changed without departing from the spirit thereof, and hence I do not limit myself to the precise construction set forth, but consider that I am at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Fatent is l. In combination with a garment seotion, an outer pocket section stitched adjacent to its edges to said garment section, the edges of said pocket section being turned inwardly to form an inwardly turned fiap; and a lining stitched tothe side of .said
Y flap adjacent the garment section.
2. In combination with a garment sec tion, an outer pocket section stitched from its inner side a short distance from its raw edge to the garment section, thus forming an inwardly turned flap; and a lining provided with an outwardly turned flap stitched to the inner side of the inwardly turned flap on the pocket section.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
FRANK IPPOLIT I.
