Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE. Y
J OHN LOPPAGKER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN BATTENING.
Specification forming partof Letters Patent No. 156,298, dated October 27, 1874; application filed September 12, 1874.
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, JOHN LOPPAOKER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Roofing and Ceiling, of which the following is a specification:
The invention will first be fully described, and then pointed out in the claim.
Figure 1 is a top view, and Fig. 2 is a crosssection of Fig. 1 on the line a: :0.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A represents the roofing orceiling. B are the boards, and O the cleat-pieces by which the boards are connected. The edges of the boards are grooved, as seen at D D. E E are tongues. F F are grooves, and H H are rabbets of the cleat-piece, which receive the tenons G G of the boards, as seen in the drawing. I is the cleat which overlaps the boards, and is held tightly thereto. J is a groove in the boards for conducting water off. The lower side of the cleat-piece is flush with the lower sides of the boards B, as represented.
By this mode the boards and cleat-pieces are securely locked together and the possibility of leakage is avoided.
Having thus described my invention, I'claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination, with side-mortised boards 13, of the intermediate cleats 0, having extension H, against which the lower edges G G abut, as shown and described.
JOHN LOPPAOKER.
