NIELS NIELSEN, OF LNCOLN, NEBRASKA.
INSECT TRAP.
Application inea December 7, 1923.
To all rif/Lam t may concer/1i.
Ee it known that Nrnns NrnnsnNcitiZen of the i ted States, residing at Lincoln, in the county of Lan'aster and State of Ne- 5 braska, has invented certain new and useful' Improvements in Insect Traps, of which the following; is a specification.
rlhe invention relates to insect traps, and has for its object to provide a device of member for the reception of a liquid, preferably a poison, which cup shaped member is provided with a shank terminating' in a plate adapted to be secured to an article of furniturev for instance an ice boi: or kitchen cabinet for forming;` a barrier, and preventing insects from entering` the ice box or cabinet. The poison may be of any kind, hoi'ever it is preferably of a character which will kill insects.
A further object is to provide lthe under side of the cup with a conveXed surface, which will easily slide over the floor and a t as a caster.
A further object is to provide the shank of the device with a chamber in communication with the chamber of the cup shaped member. thereby allowing the reception of the maximum amount of liquid to a mini-- mum sizecup, and preventing' rapid emptyinn' of the cup incident to evaporation.
lilith the above and other objects in .f'iew the in\f'ention res in the combination and l 'rangement of parteI as hereinafter set 'i l s e.own in the drawing, described and claimed., it beine' understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention maybe made within the scope of what is f laimed without departing;f from the spirit of the invention.
ln the drawings:-
Fiejure l is a perspective view of the dovice` showing a plate carried thereby, wherel Vby the device may be easily attached to bottom of a piece of furniture.
Figure 2 is a vertical transverse sectional view through the device.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral l designates an elongated plate adapted to oe secured to a piece of furniture by means of this character com )risine a cua sha ed Serial No. 679,176.
screws or the like, which may be passed through the apertures 2. Extending downwardly from the plate l is a hollow shank Irl, which shank extends axially into. the chamber 4i of the substantially semispherioal cup 5. The shank 3 is preferably formed integral with Athe plate l and the cup 5, thereby allowink single pieie of material. By forming the cup 5 semi-spherical, the convexed end 6, thereof which rests on the floor will easily slide over the fioor and act as a caster. Shank 3- munication with the chamber 4 through apertures 8, and consequently when the is .provided with a chamber 7,] which chamber at its lower end 1s in coinl- Y t; the device to be cast from a f adjacent its upper end is provided with :i
vent opening 10, which opening: allows the escape of air, consequently the liquid within the chamber 7 may easily lflow into the same or out as the liquid is consumed incident to evaporation. 1 f
The invention having been set forth what is claimed as new and useful. is
An insect trap adapted to support a piece i of furniture, said trap comprising a plate adapted to be secured to apiece of furni-Y NrnLs NIELSEN.
