comme t-sonata Armis t m fi dMar ,The present invention relates to: condiment holders and, the primary, object being to provide a device of" this character; em;- bodying. features whereby salt, or. other. condiments. within the container, may be readily loosened or broken up shOllld the same. become caked; or packed. from any cause so as to not readily sift. through the perforated portion ofithe container.
f rther bjec of h inv n io is to providea device "of the character described, w erei t gi ator, which c nsti u e a part of the-perforated cap, issnsceptible of both rotary anda reciprocatory motion thereby providing a, combined} stirrer and crusher for pulverizing the condiment W hin 2 he ntai er- Oth r: objec and advant ges of he nvention will appear in the following detailed deecriptidll, taken in Connection with the accompa y g ra ing, fo ml grapar oi: this pec fication, and h c d il -gts Fig re l e a s de va olrof acontainer onstru t d i acc r ance w th 7 my nvert i nr v Figure a ongitudinal seetien hrough tit e -nae Fig 3 a detailside elevation eithe agita r a F gure, a, ra sve s tion: n e line as of Figure 2, loohinginthe directlOlhQfth'GQIIOWS, and showing the agitator in a position for permitting of a reciprocatory motion being imparted thereto, and
Figure 5 is a view similar to Figure at and showing the agitator held against reciprocating movement within the container.
Referring to the drawing in detail, and wherein like characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, A designates my improved condiment holder comprising a container B, the upper end of which is provided with screw threads for threaded connection with one end of a cover portion C and D an agitator 2 i- S liM N 7 21 adapted for rotary and reciprocating movement within the container B;
The container B which may be made of any desirable material, is p eferably formed with a bulged body portion 10' which terminates at itstop or upper endin an annular threaded neck 11.
The cover portion C, which is annular in formation-and being open at both ends, has formed at one end thereof a threaded ring 12 and'jat its opposite end areduced'annular sleeve 13 which is connected to the ring 12 by an intermediately disposed inclined annular shoulder l' l, Disposed adjacent each end of the sleeve 13,"are, outwardly pressed, circumferentially extendinggrooves l5 and ld which areconnected in communieating relationwvith one another by an outwardly pressed longitudinally extending groove lT whifcli terminates in the grooves and 16;, The annular inclinedshoulder 1 L provides a stop for the cover portion when'threaded upon the container 13.
Referring. to the. agitator D, which is reciprocably and rotatably mounted in the cover portion C, the same consists 0:813) tubu lar body, 18. being closedlatits outer end by a perforatedv cap. 19f, having an outwardl: p ojecti g annular ead 20iformed at e bas ereof adanted to e g the Outer .end. oi the sleevelgv for providing. a stop forv the agitator;

This lug 24 is preferably pressed from the section 23, after the agitator D has been placed in position within the portion C. The tubular section 23 will prevent the condiment contained in the holder from becoming lodged in the grooves formed in the portion C, when the condiment is being shaken from the holder.
It can be seen that the agitator may be either rotated while in a withdrawn posiill).
tion, with the lug as moving in the annular groove 15, or may be rotated while in a retracted position with the lug moving in the annular groove 16. The groove 16 also acts as a retaining groove for locking the agitator in a retracted-position within the con tamer Vihen imparting a reciprocatory motion to the agitator, as when the lug 25L is aligned with the longitudinal groove 17, it can be seen that the band 22 will readily act as a crusher for the condiment, which is caused to move to a position beneath the band by reason of the converging lower wall of the container B.
hen desiring vto iill the holder, the portion C- and agitator D may be removed as a unit by merely unscrewing the cover portion from the container B, and it can be seen that by so constructing the device, that it may be readily associated with condiment CO]1c'lli19lS having a threaded cap receiving portion.
Changes in detail may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of my invention; but,
I claim:
1.. A condiment holder comprising a container, a cover portion detachably connected to said container and including an annular sleeve being open at its upper end, and an agitator rotatably and reciprocably mounted in said sleeve and joined thereto by said mounting, including a perforated cap and a depemling portion extending into the container for engagement with the contents thereof whereby the material within the container may be readily broken up.
2. A condiment holder comprising a container, a cover portion detachably connectedto said container and including an upwardly extending annular sleeve, a tubular body being closed at its outer end by a perlorated cap, and, having a portion extendng through the sleeve and into the conminor for engagement with the contents thereof, and coacting means provided on said sleeve and tubular body for permitting of a rotary and a reciprocating motion of the tubular body within said sleeve.
A condiment holder comprising a container, a cover portion including a ring and a reduced annular sleeve provided with communicating, outwardly pressed circumterentially extending grooves, adapted tor connection to said container, a tubular body 1 pressed circmnterentially extending grooves disposed adjacent each end thereof, and being in communication with one another by an outwardly pressed longitudinal groove, a tubular body being closed at its outer end by a perforated cap, fitted in said sleeve and provided with an outwardly pressed lug adapted for movably retaining the body within said sleeve, longitudinally extending blades provided at the inner portion of the tubular body adapted for rotary action upon the contents of the container, and a band connecting the lower free ends of said blades adapted to act as a crusher when a reciprocatory motion is imparted to the tubular body.
A condiment holder comprising a container, a cover portion detachabl y connected to said container and including an annular sleeve, a tubular body fitting in said sleeve, being closed at its outer end by a perforated cap, and having an inner portion extending into the container for engagement with the contents thereof, the inner portion of the tubular body being divided into a number of longitudinally extending arcuate cutting blades, an annular crushing band, connecting the free ends of said blades, and co-act ing means provided on said sleeve and tubular body for permitting of a rotary and a reciprocatory motion of the tubular body within said sleeve.
