I I a This invention relates to "lIIlPl'OVBlHGDiJS 1n indexing systems and refers more particu-- larly to an improved type of'hanger or cardholder by means of whichflaplurality I of cards may be carried on a single holder-or hanger. I I Among the objects of the invention are to provide a card-holder which will permita large number of cards to beheld-bya single frameby mounting a plurality of cards on each hangeringoverlapping relation. A further object isto supply a holder whereby. tab-cut :cards 'ai e supported in a pocketed carrier; to provide a locking means whereby the cards are fixedly held in place.

Referring to the drawings, the card-holdvr consists of a'supporting stay or strip 1 which may be of any suitable flexible ma terial, the ends of which protrude slightly beyond the edges of the card, and are adaptcd to be held by the flanges of the cardframc, not shown. The width of the strip serves to hold the card-holder and overlapping cards in regular spaced. apart relation.-

Over the strip which is preferably of wood, ard board, fibre'board or like material, is glued or otherwise fastened a fabricstrip 2, to which is glued the lower hanger or card-carrier 3 which may be of a relatively tough paper such as manila or paper board of a like stock. Fabric is used for the hingedportion at the top, as the. repeated folding of the paper would soon crease andtear the paper used as the card holding portion 3.

This type of construction permits a greater number of cards being mounted in a single frame, and 1s one from which the cards may be easily removed and inserted;

also by tabcutting the cards as explained, the lower edge upon which the identify ing matter is placed, is at all times visible a horizontal direction by engaging the slit 9 in the holder 3. This locking feature serves to rigidly hold the card in position in the holder, which card would otherwise have a tendency to sag, if it was-held merely by its corner. 7

The card holders having protective pocket members, carry individual cards. The pocket carriers extend only partially across thelower edge of thesupported cardQ An advantage of the construction is the fact "that one half of the reverse sides of the cards is available for recording purposes Without removingthe cards from their holders.

I claim as my invention: 1. A card holder for visible indexing sys tems consisting of a flexible strip insertable between the lateral flanges of a frame, a fabric hinge portion fastened ;to the strip, a

plurality of card-carriers fastened to said,

strips, a plurality of flexible carriers attached to each hanger, transparent pockets attached to the lower edge of each carrier adapted .to support the cards, and a locking slit inlthe carriers for supporting the cards rigidly in position.
