WARDROBE, BAG.-
Application filed yoveqnber 12,1923. flerlal'No'. 674,152.
and useful Im rovements in Wardrobe Bags,
of which the ollowing is a specification.
Reference may be had to the accompanying drawings, and the reference characters marked thereon which form a part of this s ecification. imilar characters refer to similar parts in the several figures therein.
This mvention relates to wardrobe bags adapted to support and rotect garments from dust, moth and the li e.
The principal object of the invention is to provide a dust-proof and moth-proof bag of this character within which the garments can be hung in proper form, and the interior of which is readil accessible for the insertion andremoval o the garments.
Other ob'ects' will appear .in connection with the following description.
Fig. 1 of the drawings is a view in front elevation partly broken away and shown in section of a wardrobe bag embodying my invention.
Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the same partly broken away and shown in section.
Fig. 3 is a horizontal section of the same taken on the brokenline 3--3 in Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a similar section partly broken away taken on the broken line 4-4 in Fig. 1. Referring to the drawings wherein the invention is shown in preferred form, 1 is an envelope which is closed except for a side opening, 2.
The envelope may be formed in any known manner of flexible material, but is prefer abl formed of awidth from side to side su cient to freely receive garments of usual width, and of a depth from front to back to freely receive one or more garment-supporting hangers with garments thereon.
The edges of the envelope bordering'the opening, 2, are formed with beads, 3, and the opening is adapted to be securely closed by means of a split tube or tubes, 4, adapted to closely embrace and hold together the oppositely disposed beaded edges, 3,. as shown in Flg. 4.
, supporting hangers, 13.
If desired, a
ma be employe as shown in Fig. 1.
plurality of said tubes, 4,
hetubes, 4, are applied to and removed from the beaded edges, 3, by sliding the tubes up or down along said edges.
Within the upper endof the envelope is a frame holding said upper end expanded. This frame referably includes a middle longitudinal ar, 5, and two separated side bars, 6 and 7, connected with themiddlev bar,
5, at intervals by bows, 8.
. The bag is supported by means of an exterior hanger, 9, connected with the middle bar, 5, of the enclosed envelope-expanding frame. Any other exterior supporting means connected with the bar, 5, may be used in desired.
At about the middle-of the enclosed envelope-expanding frame, the side bars, 6 and 7 are connected together by a cross-bar, 10, adapted to receive one or more In use the bag is supported b en a ing the strap, 9, with a hook or otlier sfiit able support from which the bag is suspended.
The side of the bag having the opening, 2, is then opened by sliding the tube or tubes, 4, up or down to free them from the beaded edges, 3.
A garment, 12, supported upon a garmenthanger, 13, is then inserted through the opening, 2, and the hook, 14, of the hanger, is engaged with the cross-bar, 10, of the envelope-ex anding frame.
By sli ing the hanger, 13, along the rod, 10, other garment-supporting hangers can be similarly inserted within the envelope and supported from the same cross-bar.
After the desired garment-supporting. hangers have been thus inserted, the opening, 2, is closed by bringing its beaded edges to ether and sliding over them the tube or tu es, 4.
What I claim as new. and desire to by Letters Patent is 1. A wardrobe bag having a flexible envelope closed except for a side opening, a frame for holding the upper end of the envelo e ex anded, said frame including a rigi mid 1e longitudinal bar and two sepasecure place of the strap orv hanger, 9, if
garment- 1 rated rigid lon itudinal side bars on a lower Elana than, an connected with, said middle ar, a rigid clothes-hanger-receiving crossbar connecting together said side bars, and
5 exterior bag-supporting means connected with said middle bar. r
2. A wardrobe bag having a flexible envelope closed except for a side opening, a
frame for holding the envelope expanded,
10 said frame having means for supporting a clothes-hanger and including a rigid middle gether at intervals said middle bar and the respective side bars, and exterior bag-supportlng means connected with sand -I1ll(l(ll0 bar. i
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand this 9th day of November, 1923.
ARTHUR H. TREULIEB.
