CONDENSER UNIT.
hpolicstion filed May 25, 1923. erial No. #341,308.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PAUL A. Burton, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Nutley, county of Essex, and State of New Jersey, here invented a certain Condenser Unit, of which the following is a specification, accompanied by drawings.
This invention relates to condenser units. but more particularly to asurface condenser having one or more coolers connected thereto. I
The objects ofthe invention are to enable a cooler and devuporizer, forming an inter condenser, to he connected to a surface condenser in e simlole end eihcient mauner'und with the provision out o suction distributor in the connection between the cooler and the condenser outlet, by Ineens of which the suctionfrom the cooler is distributed over substantially tholength of the condenser.
' Further objects of the invention will hereinslter uppear, and the invention is shown in one of its preferred terms in the accompanyiug drawings, in Which--- Figure 1 is a side elevetion partly in transverse section showing the condenser unit, and
Figure 2 is as side view of the unit, partly broken away.
Referring to the drowings, the condenser unit comprises e, surface condenser A and one or more coolers B, in this instance, two coolers being shown for purposes of illusittItiOi'i. The surface condenser A has it steam inlet t) at the top, and s1 condensate outlet busing But the bottom. The coolers B are donnected to the condensate outlet cosing D hnd are eiso adopted to be connected :to suithbl'e ovucuutors st their outlet ipes E.
In itccordence with this invention, th V condensate outlet casing Dis provided Wit} asuct on distributor for distributing the suctio from the cool tially "he entire length of the condenser A. In th preferred form of the invention, shown in the. drawings, the suction distributor is in the term of e perioreted plate E located in the side of the condenser o'ut letpesing D and the gas and vapor flows through this perforated plate from the condenser to the coolers. A distributor casing F extending substantially the length of the condenser e, is prefernbliy secured over the perforated plate E, and pi e connections to the coolers ere connects to the distribuers ll. along substen tor casing l." The coolers may be of any suitable term or construction and in this in stance are shown as c hndrical casings, having tube sheets H on water tubes J secured I Drain 1ii{)es Q; preferably lead from the bodies of tie coolers to points in the condensute casing D for draining the coolers.
I claim: 'd
1. A condenser unit having a. steam inlet at the top and u conrlensste outlet easing at the bottom, adapted to heconnected to evacuating apparatus, and u Jerforoted sec tion Qistributor located in he side of the said condensate outlet casing and also located in the connection to the evacuating upperctus for distributing the suction from the evacuating appuretus over"sul stuntiully the length of the condenser. 5
2. A condenser unit having a steem inlet at the top cutie-condensate outlet casing extending longitudinally along the bottom of the condenser, and e perforated suction distributor extending longitudinally sub stantiully'the length of the condenser in the side of so id condensate outlet casing, through which distributor the gas and vapor from the"conden'scr flows ,toevecueting: apparatus, whereby the suction from the evacuating s parutus is distributed over substantially tile length of the contlcnsen f 3. A condenser unit hitting a steam inlet at the top and u condensate extending longitudinally along the hottorn of the condenser, and c SliClJiOli distributor in the form of e, Ker-foisted plate extending longitudinally so stuntially. the length of the condenser in the side of sold condensate outlet casing, through which distributor the gas end vapor from the condenser flows to evacuating apparatus, whereby the suction from the evacuating apparatus is distributed substantially over the length of the condenser.
outlet casing" 7 4;. Aeondenser unit having a steam inlelhadapted to be connected to evacuating up- 10 at the top and acondensate outlet casing paratuswwhereby the gas and vapor from extendinglmigitudinally alon 'the bottom the condenser flows through the distributor of the condenser, a suction i'stributor' in to evacuating apparatus and the suction is 5 the form f a perforated plate, extending distributed substantially over the length of longitudinally substantially the length of the condenser. v the condenser in the side of said condensate In testimony. whe
outlet'casing, and a distributor casing '39- specification.
