the following is a specification. p y Mypresent invention pertains to vehicle bodies suchas are equipped for the holding offs'takes.
One object of the invention is the provision of an efficient lock calculated to pre ventfcasua-l movement, rattling and loss of astake.
Anotherobject is the provision of astake holder thatisnot liable to be affected swelling of wood in wet Weather.
Another object is theprovision of a stake holder of such character that friction or frictional contact will not render diflicult the removal of a-stake. g i

It will alsobe noted by particular reference to Figure 1 that the bolt 10'and the screw 12 serve for the additional connection of the metallic angle member 13, the horizontal portion of said 'member being disposed under the wooden section 9. The outer end of the horizontal arm ofthe member 13 is bifurcated as designated by; 14, and theupright-armor the .said'angle member is'provided with sidewalls 15 isposed at opposite sides ofthe said bifurcation and is also provided with an uprightloop 16, the sides of the said loop 16 be ng integral with the side walls 15 as illustrated. L V 1 In the practical use of ;my' ;i-mproven1ent it is simply necessary to socket the lower end of the stake in the space '17 and so that the lower end of the stake bearsjo'n the horizontal arm of the angle in'embe'r 13, and so that the member '51 hooks over the angle-iron 3 and to then move thewle'ver 2 1 from the position shown in Figure '3 to that shown in Figure 1, whereby the latch bar 19 will be caused to engage the stake 7-30 and strongly and securely lock the stake so that it isheld against casual upward movement and i s also held against rocking. In this connection it will be appreciated that; the placing ofth'e stake does 'not involve frietional wear of'any part of thefconstiuction;
and it will also be appreciated *that the parts are not liableyto be gaifectediby theswelling of wood in wet' weather. 3. The combination of the floor of a vehicle body, an angle-iron fixed thereon, a stake having a hook-like portion engaged over the upright portion of the angle-iron and also having an abutment, an angle member disposed below and fixed to the floor and having an upright portion, a latch bar pivoted to said upright portion of the angle member and adapted to engage said abutment of the stake, a spring backing the latch bar, and a lever arranged to cooperate with the upright portion of the angle member and connected with the latch bar for holding said bar detachably in idle position.

The combination of the floor of a vehicle body, an angle-iron fixed thereon, a metallic strap spaced outwardly from the upright portion of the angle-iron, sections interposed and secured between the angleiron and said strap and having a space between confronting ends thereof, a stake removably arranged in said space and having a hook-like portion engaged with the angleiron and also having an abutment, an angle member having a horizontal portion fixed to the floor and also having an upright portion, and means carried by said upright portion of the angle member for engaging the stake and preventing upward movement of said stake.
5. The combination of the floor of a vehicle body, an angle-iron fixed thereon, a metallic strap spaced outwardly from the upright portion of the angle-iron, sections interposed and secured between the angleiron and said strap and having a space between confronting ends thereof, a stake removably arranged in said spaces and having a hook-like portion engaged with the angleiron and also having an abutment, an angle member having a horizontal portion fixed to the floor and also having an upright portion, and means carried by said upright portion of the angle member for engaging the stake and preventing upward movement of said stake; the said upright portion of the angle member being of loop form and the said means including a latch bar pivoted I in interposed relation between the upright portion of the angle member and the latch bar, a cam lever disposed back of the upright portion of the angle member, and a connection between said cam lever and the latch bar.
7 The combination of the floor of a vehicle body and stake, an angle member fixed with respect to the floor and having an up right portion, a latch bar pivotally connected to said upright portion for preventing upward movement of the stake relative to the floor and the angle member, a spring strip secured in interposed relation between the upright portion of the angle member and the latch bar, a cam lever disposed back of the upright portion of the angle member, and a connection between said cam lever and the latch bar; the said upright portion of the angle member being provided with intermediate abutments or shoulders, and the connection between the latch bar and the cam lever being in the form of a bail disposed below said shoulders or abutments and pivotally connected to the cam lever on its bight.
