Be it known that I, ROBERT W. BLAKE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Indianapolis, in the county of Marion and by dentists and others who desire to electro-- plate small articles and at thesame tim (16- sire to have a readily portable machine which may be used and after use maybe closedand put out of the way. 7 ,For the purpose ofdisciosing my invention I have illustrated one embodiment thereof in-the accompanying drawing, in which the figure is'a perspective view-of an apparatus embodying myinvention.

The electro-plating container preferably consists of a glass bowl 12 having mounted thereon and extending therethrough, the electrode terminals 13 and 14 which are respectively provided on their inner ends with binding screws to receive the electrodes and on the outer ends with binding screws to permit the connection to the terminals of the respective conductors 15 and 16 leading to the binding posts 17 and 18 which are mounted on the shelf 2. One of the binding posts, 18, leads to one of the terminals of ment-A'beneath the shelf, and the opposite post 17 {leads through an ordinary snap switch 20 to the opposite terminal of these batteries. One or more batteries maybe provided and where more th'an one battery is provided, th batteries, of course, are con nected inseries. A portable self-contained electro-plating apparatus, comprising an enclosing casing divided horizontally into an upper and lower compartment and provided with a hinged cover and with a removable end wall, said container being divided into two compartments by a horizontally disposed shelf, an electro-plating container mounted in the upper compartment upon said shelf and provided with electrode terminals extending through the walls thereof and having binding posts on the exterior, a pair of binding posts mounted upon the upper surface of said shelf, electric batteries mounted in the bottom compartment of the container and having their terminals respectively connected to said binding posts, said end member and cover being arranged, when closed, to completely enclose and protect all of the parts of the apparatus within the casing and when open, to permit access respectively to the batteries in the bottom compartment and to the electro-plating container, a switch on said shelf for controlling the circuit from the batteries to the electrodes, and means on the cover for opening said switch when the cover is moved into closed position.
3. A portable self-contained electro-plating apparatus, comprising an enclosing casing divided horizontally into an upper and lower compartment and provided with a hinged cover and with a removable end wall,
said container being divided into two compartments by a horizontally disposed shelf, an electro-plating container mounted in the upper compartment upon said shelf, a pair of binding posts mounted upon the upper surface of said shelf, electrodes associated with said binding posts and with said container, electric batteries mounted in the bottom compartment of the container and having their terminals respectively connected to the binding posts, said end member and cover being arranged, when closed, to completely enclose and protect all of the parts of the apparatus within the casing and when open, to permit access respectively to the batteries. in the bottom compartment and to the electro-plating container.
4. A portable self-contained electro-plating apparatus, comprising an enclosing casing divided horizontally into an upper and lower compartment and provided with a suitable cover and with a removable end wall, said container being divided into two compartments by a horizontally disposed shelf, an electro-plating container mounted on the upper compartment upon said shelf and provided with electrodes, electric batteries mounted in the bottom compartment of the container and having their terminals respectively connected to the electrodes of the container, said end member being provided on its inner face with a suitable pocket and the ends of said batteries lying a sufficient distance away from the end of the compartment to accommodate the pocket on said removable end wall, the inner end wall of said pocket being arranged to prevent, when the container end wall is closed, longitudinal displacement of the batteries, and said end member and cover being arranged, when closed, to completely enclose and protect all of the parts of the apparatus within the casing and when open, to permit access respectively to the batteries in the hot-tom compartment and to the electro-plating container.
