To all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, ULRroC. DEIKE, a c1t1- zen of the United States, residlng at Washington, in the District f Columbia, have in c vented new and useful Improvements in Tee Devices, of which the following is a specilication. -1

This invention relates to tee forming devices and has for an object the provision of means whereby a golf tee may be easily,

quickly and accurately formed.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a device whereby golf tees may be formed without requiring the hands of the player to come in contact with the sand, so

that in the event that the latter contains eX- traneous material, the hands will not be soiled or subjected to possible injury thereby.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a tee forming device which may be conveniently carried for use at the various tees of the golf course and which may be cheaply constructed so as to be sold at a low cost.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, t0 be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed `out in the appended claims.

Referring to the drawings in detail where- Y inlike. characters of reference denote corresponding parts, thev form of the invention shown in Fi ures 1 to 3 of the drawings may be stamped rom a single piece of sheet metal so as to provide a mold 10 shaped to conform to the shape of a tee. Extending from the open edge of the mold is a handle 11 which is bent to provide a hook 12, whereby the handle may be engaged over some suitable part of wearing apparel, such as a belt or the edge of the pocket.v This provides convenient means w ereby the devlce may be conveniently carried.

The mold 10 is provided with a drain opening v13 through which water' from the san'd of which the tee is formed may escape. 55 It 1s of course obvious that more than one opemng may be provided, or the mold'may be f ormed of some foraminous material. In addition, the handle is provided with a sprlng tongue 14. 6c

In the use of the invention as thus far described, the mold is dipped in sand and lilled whereupon it may be dipped in the water wh1ch will pass through the sand and escape through the opening 13, leaving the sand in close compact formation. In order to remove the tee thus formed, the mold is reversed or turned upsidedown as shown in Figure 3 of the drawings and the free end of the tongue 14 is struck lightly against the ground which will serve to dislodge the tee from the mold and deposit it in proper form upon the ground.

In vFigure 4. of the drawings the mold 10n is formed separately from the handle 11, the 75 latter having one end formed to engage within an annular groove 1 5 provided in the mold. The opposite end of the handle is provided with a spring extremity 16 which in addition to serving as a hook for thev purpose described in connection with the hook 12, acts as a substitute for the spring tongue 14 to dislodge the contents of the mold.

The mold shown in Figure 4 may be constructed of any suitable material, preferably glass, the sand readily leaving the surface of the glass. The bottom of the mold is provided with an escape opening 13a for the escape of water.

The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the appended claims.
