Innoperation the parts normally assume the fullline position shown in Fig. 1, but when transferyis called for the partsmove as previously described to raise the latch to the dotted line position, this raising of thelatch being effectedby means of fingers 32 engaging the under side of latch 25. As-the lay advances, the hunter 28 engages the latch 25 and moves the latter forwardly, the.

When the lay moves back and hunter 28 releases latch 25, the latter. falls to the position shown in Fig. 1, the fingers 32 being engaged by the faces 37 to force the head 31 forwardly under the weight of the controller. Itwill be noted from an inspection of Figs. 1'- and 3 that the front end of slot 30 in the latch is farther forward 'When' the latch is'down as in Fig. 1 (full lines) than it is when raised-as in Fig. 3, thus permitting the controller head 31 which passes through the latch to remain in forward position when the latch isrestored to normal position from the position-shown in Fig. 4. Also itwill be seen that the controller moves to its foremost positionon the transferring pick because of the fact that thelatch has been moved forwardly at that time. I
From the'foregoing it will be seen that I have provided a fixed guide below the latchfor cooperating with the latch controller, 1
that the controller has a combined forward and downward movement, that the latch ,is slotted to receive the latch controller sothat the latter is restrained against undesirable lateral motion, and that when the latch is in lower inoperative position vit serves to hold the controller in forward position.
Having described one' form 'of my'invention, it will be apparent that changes and modifications may be made therein by those skilledin the art and I do not wish to be limited to the specific structure illustrated, but what I do claim is:
1. In a weft replenishing mechanism for a loom having a lay, a transfer, a latch V pivotally connected thereto, a controller for said latch normally in forward position away from the lay, and means to give sa d controller an upward and. rearward movement prior-totransfer to raise the latclr and:
a downward and forward movement during transfer to restore said controller to forward position away, from the lay.
2. In a weft replenishlng loom,'a transfer arm, a. latch pivotallyv connected thereto, a
controller for'said latch operatively .con-
controller during transfer, and means to give said controller a rearward movement as it is raised and a forward'and downward mot1on to restore the same to normal position as-the replenishing mechanism is reset.
4. In ,a Weft replenishing mechanism, a transfer .arm','.a latch pivotally connected thereto, a cont-roller .for said latch, fixed means cooperating the said'controller, said controller having cam portions to engage the fixed means to cause said controller to have an initial rapid downward motion followed by a forward motion: 7
5. In a weft replenishing loom, a transfer arm, a transfer latch pivotally connected to the arm and having a slot therein, a latch controller 'operatively connected to the re plenishing mechanism and having a portion thereof extending through. the slot in the latch to restrain lateral displacement of said controller, said controller to lift the latch at the time of transfer.
6. In a replenishing loom having a lay with a hunter thereon, a transfer arm, a
-' member pivotally connected to the transfer arm to engage the hunter on the lay, and a control member for said first named member,
