UNITED STATES HARVEY L. WILLIAMS, 0F EMPORIA, KANSAS.
FLAG HOLDER.'
Application led May 28, 1924. kSerial No. 716,388.
To all whom t 'may concern.'
Be it known that I, HARVEY Lf WILLIAMS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Emporia, in the countyof Lyon, State of Kansas, have inventedcertain new and'usefnl Improvements in Flag Holders; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it .appertains to make and use the same. Y Y Y This invention relates to new and useful Vimprovements in holders, and particularly to devices for holding small flags on lamp- Vposts, poles, and the like.
@ne object of the invention is t-o provide asimple device offthis character which can be easily and quickly` applied to or removed from a post', and which willeffciently support small flags.
Another object is to provide a device o t this character which may be manufactured at a. low cost. i l Y Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.
In the drawing:
f Figure l is a perspective view of the device applied to a post;
Figure 2 is a top plan'view Vof the same,
the` post being shown in section.
Figure 3 is a vertical transverse sectional Y showing the flag stick receiving opening.v
Referring particularly to the accompanying drawing, l0 and l1 vrepresent a pair of blocks, of suitable material, each having its inner end transversely curved into concave outline for embracing engagement with one side of the post 13, said curved end being indicated at l2. The other end of the block may be convex, as shown, or may be cut off at right angles to the sides of the block, as desired. Formed downwardly through each vof the blocks is an opening 14, said opening beginning adjacent one side edge of the upper face of the block and terminating adjacent the opposite edge of the lower face of the block. l() and ll, and with their yends disposed aga-inst "the sides of the blocks, are the metal straps l5, said straps having their intermediate portions outwardly bowed, .asl
Extending between the blocks cey from the holder. The holders are adapted to be'secured to posts 1n such manner kthat they extend in parallel relation. to the streetT thus causing o-ne of the flags to project toward the street while the other flag proy f `jects over the sidewalk. y
The fact that the openings lll extend entirely through the blocks permits the reinoval of a portion of a stick, shonld same break off while attempting to remore same from the holder.
What is claimed is:
l.' A flag holder comprising a elainp adapted to embrace a post and including side members Vand terminal blocks securedy between the ends of the side members, said blocks having oblique Hag stick receiving openingsi n 2. A flag holder comprising a clamp liaring parallel side plates and terminal blocks secured to and arranged between the ends oit' the side plates, the inner ends of the blocks and the portions of the side plate iii-- termediate said blocks being adapted to embrace a post, said blocks having oblique dan' stick receivingopenings extending throughl blocks,
the upper and lower races of the In'testimony whereof I aix my signature.
